I went to see Whitney when I was visiting town because I was having chronic pain in my right arm. She did Neuromuscular Reprogramming and then more classic massage, and my pain decreased by about 70% over the next couple of days. She was excellent at zeroing in on the areas of inflammation and congestion, and using the right amount of pressure to get into the tissues. I found her easy to communicate with and very receptive to hearing what I wanted and needed from my massage. She also has an extremely soothing presence and puts you at ease right away. - Elusis , posted 03/19/07 |

She worked on me as I lay suppine in pain on a narrow bench in the cluttered backstage of a crowded nightclub - she pushed, she pulled, she kneaded - I unraveled and possibly attained enlightenment - at least for the time of a song. - Serena , posted 12/30/06 |

I've had two massages from Whitney. Both were really great. She takes the time to get a physical history, cover any previous injuries you may have, find out what you want from your massage and what techniques you prefer. She is flexible in that she will tailor your massage to your needs, not just “the way she does it”, like some therapists. But it is more than that. She is receptive to feedback and takes written notes as to improve your next massage. For instance, more pressure here, less pressure there, I want to melt and keep quiet, or feel like chatting it up. After the massage it is nice that she tells you little tricks of how to keep your muscles happy between massages and will teach you simple self-massage techniques. I will absolutely continue to get massages from Whitney. - Tony , posted 11/05/06 |

As someone with a history of back, neck, and even leg injuries, I know pain. Oh, do I know pain. I have been without physical therapy since moving up north 10 months ago, and my body has been wracked with jaw-clenching, horrifying pain. I was about to go to the E.R. yesterday, something which I have NEVER done for pain. Then, my boyfriend called Whitney, and we spoke and she wonderfully fit me into her schedule. I didn't know what to expect. But wow - she is incredible. Must be a combination of intuition, anatomical knowledge, compassion, focus, and simple natural talent, because she found EVERY spot that has ever bothered me, and some I had never known about. She wasn't afraid of applying pressure, but never hurt me or made me feel discomfort. I felt at ease and in extremely capable hands, and haven't felt this grateful in ages! I went from feeling helpless to feeling like there is actually a human out there who can help! Oh - and as an added bonus, she has the most comfortable massage table ever. I absolutely recommend Whitney - she is a rarity. - Unsubscribed , posted 08/28/06 |

I'm a programmer, so I live in my brain; my body is a hassle to deal with. When I started seeing Whitney for massages, she understood where I was coming from, and started teaching me about my body in a way that helped me connect with it. I've seen my share of massage therapists, and Whitney is the first to reach me on both a physical and an intellectual level, bringing me into dialogue with my own muscles. I've never felt so good about being in my own skin. - Sarah , posted 07/19/06 |

What makes Whitney Moses such an exceptional bodyworker is not only her arsenal of skills, but her intuition and compassion. She is appropriately nurturing, professional, thorough, and focused, with her prime concern for her client's needs and welfare. Her attention to the body extends to the soul. - daphne , posted 07/17/06 |

not much i can say that hasn't been said many times over, but yes, whitney is great! good solid & deep work; she dug right in to my muscles, which is tough to do. left me feeling all floaty & released. my only regret was that i didn't have more time, because i missed out on the belly rubs, which i've heard are fantastic! - charlie , posted 07/11/06 |

I can't think of a better massage I've ever had. Whitney was attentive, engaged, professional and friendly. She talked about what she was doing when I asked questions, but stayed quiet and focused otherwise. She has a sensitive touch and an extremely thorough knowledge of functional anatomy, combined with a natural warmth, compassion and awareness that all make for one of the people most suited to practicing massage that I've ever met. Now if I can only figure out how to bribe her into getting another one ;) - Heliocide , posted 05/25/06 |

There's not much new I can add that hasn't already been said many times here. Whitney's massage is very different from other massages I've had. She asks questions about your personal body issues that you want to address, then she offers great educational information on how the areas of the body work together and the importance of treating it as a whole system.(Ie. she did some work on my abdominal muscles before addressing the lower back pain I was experiencing, while explaining why this was necessary to maximize the benefit of the work she would be doing on my back.) Many CMT's I've been to do the same standard generalized massage over and over, Whitney really tailored her massage to my body issues, which made me feel like I was getting the most beneficial massage possible. It was a fantastic experience, and I will be going back for more! - shari , posted 05/16/06 |

Some of my favorite things about a Whitney: she remembers your body and its needs; she is thorough and listens to both you and your muscles; she's a great person who sometimes comes to your house for an appointment and then compliments your cooking; and finally, she doesn't talk about you in the third person as if you weren't there, or coo while she knuckles your thighs. - Whitney , posted 05/08/06 |

She is very professional and not only helps you with the massage work but also giving you continued wellness information. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing and she has a personality that puts you at ease in seconds. She works great with your needs. She also follows up with you a day or so later to check in on how things are going. She has been my first masseuse and there has never been a need for me to look elsewhere. - Mark , posted 05/04/06 |

yeah uh... everything everyone else said is true. i've been seeing whitney for a while now and one of the first things that struck me about her massages was something someone else already said here-- i.e. that the experience was actually really educational. i hadn't had a ton of massages prior to seeing her, but none of them were as educational as whitney's. and i just thought that was really cool. and addictive, definitely! - Kim , posted 05/04/06 |

It's hard for me to believe that someone as young as Whitney can bring so much wisdom of the body, and self along with great massage skills into her healing work. I really appreciated the time she takes and comittment she demonstrates into what is a wholistic healing approach. Highly recommend! - Rudi , posted 05/04/06 |

I've had the privilege of receiving bodywork from Whitney over a goodly span of time, and have seen, well, felt her improvement over that time. Not that she was ever not skilled; just that a set of confident hands have been accentuated by an ever deepening awareness and array of techniques. - matthew , posted 05/02/06 |

Ok, no, not really. But this euphoric, post-massage high puts the same kind of grin on my face. If you're stressed out, your back is all kinked-up, or you just want to treat yourself to a little taste of euphoria, you need to talk to Whitney. The girl has mad skills - and very reasonable rates! Although you should be warned: after an hour under her hands, you may be unable to resist the urge to profess your undying love, porpose marriage, and divulge whatever confidential nuclear secrets you may have. She's that good. :) - Ray , posted 04/20/06 |

Whitney used twists on techniques that previously had not worked for me to get the desired result -- she does good deep work and finds ways to stretch even the most flexible folk (well, me, at least). - Unsubscribed , posted 04/18/06 |

i know that whitney is constantly learning more about bodywork and strives for excellence in her work. she is a clear communicator, creates a safe space for bodywork and offered suggestions on how to be in my body based on my injuries/emotions after and during the massage. i would recommend whitney 's massage services to anyone that is interested in quality bodywork. - Michelle , posted 03/31/06 |

I love the fact that Whit asks questions and listens first, then works second. She doesn't have a preconceived notion of what my body needs. At the same time if I'm having trouble being specific she's able to prod around and tell me what she see's and help me to verbalize in a way that I learn more about my body everytime. - Yosh! , posted 03/29/06 |

No, not like that, you preverts... or at least, *I* wouldn't know. Whitney is the sort of amazing massage therapist who can spend an entire day in massage classes, then join you for a group aerial dance class, and THEN, at something like 9pm in the evening, give you the most kickass hour-and-a-half massage, even when she's busy turning to jello herself. She is an excellent reader of muscle integration, she has a calm demeanor, she can talk you through the painful spots, reminding you to breathe and care for yourself. She uses NON-SCENTED products, for those of you who are sensitive to such things, and will leave you feeling better in mind, soul, and body -- with homework for how to treat yourself better. Oh yeah, and sometimes, when she's really in the groove, she sings, with that sweet, wonderful, mellow voice of hers. - Ariyana , posted 03/29/06 |

This girl gives a great massage. I have a couple chronic injuries that that need special attention and make it hard for me to truly relax when they're being worked. With Whitney I had no problem at all relaxing and everything felt great when she was done. Can't wait till I can go again. - Blaine , posted 03/29/06 |

I visit SF about once a month, and one thing I look forward to is Whit's massage! She has taught me things about my body, and helped me think about the way I carry myself, in ways that help me even when not getting a massage. Also, she does a weird thing with the muscles under my shoulder and arm that I've never experienced! I'm a fairly experienced recipient of massage services, and she's really a top bodyworker - Jefe , posted 03/28/06 |

Miss Whitney has a natural sense of compassion, sensitive hands, and a strong and grounding presence. She combines strength, skill, and sensitivity in order to release the pains that ail. Lying on her table, I find myself losing not only muscular tension, but festering emotional stress as well. As she relieves my pains, I find myself letting go of negativity. Leaving her table, I am lighter, and centered, and more Present. Natural healing energy is something some people carry naturally. A masseuse who can sense where it hurts, who can listen in so many ways and dig deeper than skin with gentleness and ease, is one who I will go out of my way to patronize. I heartily and enthusiastically recommend Whitney's massage services. - nuclear cupcake , posted 11/04/06 |

Besides being very good at working out knots and loosening tense muscles, Whitney also spends time showing me how to take care of myself between visits, and in more depth than I've experienced with other massage therapists. - Unsubscribed , posted 03/28/06 |

I've had a couple of professional massages before Whitney, but it is because of her work that I'm now a repeat customer. I really appreciate the way that she keeps notes on my injuries, how she's worked with them, and her ideas on what techniques might be best to try next. She often "opens up" joints that have been locked for months in a way that allows me to access new flexibility (very important to me as a dancer) and that gives relief to the reciprocal parts of my body which become overworked while trying to protect the injured spot. At other times, I have come to Whitney for relaxation/de-stressing massages. She is also amazing at these; long strokes of the paraspinal muscles and her incredible neck work have frequently turned me into a puddle of goo. Whitney has an amazing and fabulous versatitilty in her work, and is an excellent communicator. As a client, you can feel comfortable and confident about asking her for specific styles of work, and also for asking her well-trained opinion on what techniques might get you the result you would like. Book a massage with her !! She is really fabulous! - Wednesday , posted 03/11/06 |

if you're not even sure what's wrong, but know something's screwy, she'll help you get to the bottom of it. great intuitive sense on top of the hardcore anatomy education. - jenka , posted 03/02/06 |

As a CMT, myself, I am often disappointed or overly critical of the people who trade with me or who I hire. Am occasionaly pleasantly surprised. I am rarely impressed. And every once in a great while I am blown away by the combination of good energy, amazing skill, and extensive knowledge. The moment she started the welcoming strokes, I relaxed. I could feel the confidence and calm in her hands. Withing moments I was letting go beneath the adept hands of a massage master. She just knows. Every movement was precise, skilled, and relaxed. So much of the Massage therapist's energy sets the tone and environment for the massage. And Whitney has such relaxed, comfortable, friendly energy that it translates to a peaceful, healing experience even before she engages one of her myriad, effective tools for clearing out all the stress, pain, and toxins of the system. When she was done, I felt so amazingly unraveled that I had no desire to move. Ever. I didn't want to undo the artistry that had been enacted upon my person. Sigh. oh, well. I guess I will just need to schedule another session. Darn all the luck... - Unsubscribed , posted 03/02/06 |

Whitney's skill and work is a wonderful blend between the intellectual, the intuitive, and the sensate. Her education regarding human anatomy and kinetics is obvious--I have a number of injuries to work through, and she is always taking note of new areas of knowledge to apply to them! ALSO: It just feels DAMN good. The end! - Rivetpepsquad , posted 02/28/06 |

The first thing that comes to mind is how comfortable I feel with Whitney. Like many, I am fairly self-conscious, and she is very warm and calming. I have had a few massage sessions with her and she is attentive and intuitive, targeting the areas I need without me having to guide her much. Her strength and endurance are excellent and the end of the session is as good as the beginning. There are a lot of people in this area who practice massage, and I have been to a few, but I can say I like Whitney's style, personality and connection the best! Thanks Whit! - Davetronic , posted 02/28/06 |
