This show is loaded with great music that hits up both sides of the musical spectrum--from hip-hop to a cappella. The groups Sol Rebelz and Charming Hostess performed at the Oakland store Change Makers, which is known for hosting and promoting local cultural, artistic, and activist events. Anyone who can't get enough of feminist literature and female action figures will find it difficult to leave without checking out the random paraphernalia on display. Sol Rebelz is an up-and-coming hip-hop band that brought the house down with their catchy lyrics. You'll want to watch the episode all over again just to memorize the words. The band's solid beats inspired even Laurence to flex his rapping skills in front of the camera and spontaneously audition for the band. Trust me--you'll want to see this. Also featured is Charming Hostess, a three woman a cappella group that puts a new spin on songs with a political message by infusing them with eerie syncopated melodies. These girls tell it like it is--whether it's warfare in Sarajevo or Laurence hogging the microphone, they certainly know how to get their message across.
