Linode ( services » computer ) "Linode Virtual Dedicated Servers" I also use Linode to host a few domains. These guys have servers in a few different data centers, and have been around for awhile. Service is pretty good, though it seems like they've been keeping rather busy lately. Their distros aren't as up-... read more

John Companies ( services » computer ) "virtual dedicated servers" I use these guys to host a few of my domains. They provide you with virtual dedicated hosting, which is essentially like having root, but without requiring a whole physical machine. They've got great, responsive service, and don't treat you like... read more

True Sake ( local favorites » shops ) "the selection is awesome!" i think my favorite bottle might have been the sato no homare, which was recommended by the owner. aside from that, they have a selection that's difficult to find elsewhere, as most of the typical retail stores are dominated by american and non-p... read more

Daylight Savings - Goh Nakamura ( miscellaneous » music reviews ) "Awesome Album!" I had the good fortune of meeting Goh Nakamura as he was starting to finish up his first album, Daylight Savings, and hearing new songs as they unfolded.
The album was key to breaking away from the poorly-written and saccharine-sweet fluff bein... read more

Koo ( local favorites » restaurants ) "worth the sucky parking situation in the inner sunset" I had the pleasure of being introduced to Koo, recently. 32nd and Judah ( local favorites » restaurants ) "Hawaiian Food in the Sunset" I don't know the name of this, but it's at 32nd and Judah, and it's right next door to a bar. In fact, it's actually physically connected to it, such that if you wanted a cocktail, you can walk next door, get one and bring it back.

For weeks now, I've been working on hijacking a term for my own usage.Thu, September 21, 2006 - 8:21 AM permalink - 5 comments
That term is "SMOKE THAT ASS!", as popularized by Jack Black in High Fidelity. Jenni actually tracked the origin of the term back to another film in the year 2000, as well.
For those of you who haven't heard me say "smoke that ass", I've decided that it's time for us to grow as a nation. "Awesome!" and "Rad!" are certainly good, classic, stand-by's for expressing glee and joy. But I think those terms have lost ... read more

And then, Mariah Carey's words came on the radio, and spoke to me like never before.
Tribe, you've got me feeling emotion!

August 25, 2006I was hoping to see you comment on techcrunch. :-)
April 13, 2006Gary is the only person on earth with two testimonials from me.
May 28, 2005Gary aka DJ Sketchy aka Lamia Favorite "Gary-oke" is the Man (as well as the Man behind the Man)
You gotta witness his karaoke skillz: He does a mean Tupac, then flips that shit and brings the house down with some George Michael and Bon Jovi. It's pretty solid.
February 25, 2005Gary owns Chinatown, Japantown, and whatever counts as Koreatown in the Bay Area. You might not work with Gary, but whenever you order take-out, you're working _for_ Gary.
February 25, 2005Woohoo! I popped Gary's testimonial cherry!
Gary's an all-around great guy with good taste in music. He's a pleasure to work with too.
