13 is Lucky
I recommend this band to anyone who needs a jolt of emotional reception to offset their spiritual stagnation. To anyone who wants a shot of redemption from their hell of repetition. Or a lot of affection for their particular affliction.
These guys rock. You heard it here first.
If you have a moment, let me tell you a story.
A film called Treasure, a screen shot of which you see here, needed music to make it sing. I had put out want ads, casting about hither and yon for just the right mystical musicianship to keep the film on it's proper course, to make sure it reached port. Nothing worked. Nothing was right. I listened to hours and hours of music. Nothing clicked.
Until Dee Kennedy, a multi-talented singer/songwriter, who had played a lead role in a film I'm struggling to make, sent me a demo CD of her band, think13. I flipped. With her bandmate, Christoph Moskalonek, also an actor and multi-talented creativity-laden gentle-freak, the two had created a series of songs that simply were perfect for the film, and they'd never seen nor heard of Treasure.
We laid the songs down next to the filck, and it was click click, clickety click.
I hoped and prayed and bided my time, fussing and fidgeting with it until I came up to SF for the shindig at Xenodrome.
I went over there tonite to their studio in the Mission and screened the rough cut, crossing my fingers.
We clicked. And I can't even explain how proper and present and precise the vibe was. Words aren't for that, even though we get to slap alot of them through this port hole. I'm doing my best to trim the sails and keep her true.
Bottom line is, if you're a booker or promoter or A&R guy or girl, or you just want to hear it, go to their website, or email me back and I'll send you their stuff. They rock, and they've just sailed on past the iceberg...
Peace, and thanks for indulging this writer in his musings.
