I love New Wave City!
I've gone to 3 or 4 of NWC's events now, and am most eagerly looking forward to the next. One of the best dancing experiences I've had in SF, maybe even _the_ best?? That's saying alot, but here's why: The people are great. It's an awesome crowd of cool people, all pretty laid back really, not alot of the usual bullshit one has to endure. I did see a little fight there the last time, but I feel like that's pretty out of the ordinary. There seems to be a greater percentage of dancers vs talkers also, or maybe the talking people are just considerate enough to stay off the floor. I think that's pretty nice. Perhaps most importantly, the music is pretty hot most of the time too. Good DJs. Good fun all around. You should just go. - Doom , posted 07/01/06

Best New Wave club in SF
New Wave City is the best venue for 80's/New Wave/Goth/Punk, etc.

Totally brings back the memories of the old days when I was a kid. All the music and often all the looks as well.

The people are totally awesome, the DJ's rock. They always have an awesome variety. The events are always top notch, as well as the clubs they host the events at.

You totally don't want to miss it. - , posted 05/03/06

The First and Foremost Roaming '80's Club in The City
Well, I certainly can't top their own tagline!

Good DJs, great music. The different venues definitely show their selves (DNA, Rawhide, Space 550, etc). I get annoyed at all of the rude people who can't be bothered to, oh, apologize when they bump into you. And I *am* snob enough to say dress in appropriate clothing -- you don't have to join the theme, but no scruffy jeans please (unless, of course, they *are* part of a theme outfit).

But the main reason you go to a dance club is, obviously, to dance. I've found that 90% of the people at NWC are happy with the tunes 90% of the time. Me, I'm happy more like 75% of the time (but Leah makes up for me -- she never stops!), but that's definitely enough to keep me coming. It would be nice to have a few of the more obscure songs, as well as the more popular stuff.

*sniff* I still miss King Street ;) - , posted 12/09/05

NEW WAVE CITY IS TONIGHT!!! 8/6/05
It's something you have to experience. Drag yourself out there. It's hard to find, but it's worth it, trust me:O) - DJ Liquid , posted 08/06/05

the best 80's club in SF
located in the middle of nowhere (550 barneveld) in a huge warehouse, new wave city is the best 80s dance club i've found. with 3 different dance floors to choose from, the biggest problem you'll run into is choosing which one to dance in (they all play equally good music). in the main room DJ skip (my favorite SF DJ) plays the best selection of new wave, both well known and underground. in the back rooms a selection of some of the best DJs in the city, different at each event. the crowd is always great....some of the friendlist people i've run into in the SF club scene, and everyone dances! the cover is steep.....$7 before 10 and $12 after that, but well worth it. and its only once a month (the first saturday of every month), so paying a high cover once a month is deffinately worth it. check out the next event on august 2nd, a tribute to the smiths! - DJ verablue , posted 07/22/05
