great idea, ok movie, hopefully a true movement
saw a screening of motherhood manifesto a month ago or so ~ it was right at the begining of me getting super sick but i really didn't care. i was so psyched & expecting to be with a lot of single mama activists, excited at the prospect of being in community with women i thought i'd really connect with... ahh, sweet illusions are unfortunately often as much or more comfort than the actuality of events... my son was one of a very few children there ~ mostly 'upper class' & upper age intellectually interested individuals from the berkeley hills who looked on with bemusement at my backpack filled with distractions in desperate hopes that my son would be entertained enough when it was hours passed his usual bedtime to stay quiet enough so that we didn't get asked to leave as we had at the future of food when he delighted in announcing the name of every vegetable he recognized.
the documentary was kinda cool, nothing was really said that i didn't already know first hand but it was sorta affirming that others were learning. it's supposedly aiming to build a pro-motherhood movement (one of the creators is a co-founder of code pink) tough i've heard nothing from them despite signing up to host a screening at the single mama co-op of sorts we live at... *lol* of course, this is the first time i've had a chunk of time to be online in over a month...
