The blight of Emeryville
The quintessential example of a buzz bar that has no redeeming qualities. The physical space is abundant, but somehow the decor and the clientele make the place seem claustrophobic. The drinks are mediocre, the prices far too high, and the atmosphere is true to its soul: the plastic face of gentrification. It is no accident that Kitty's is in a warehouse-type space in Emeryville when you consider the people that this bar hopes to attract. From over-manicured hipsters to straight trust- fund snobs, Kitty's is at the vanguard of turning Emeryville and East Oakland into a white upper-middle class paradise. (see Spin Magazine Nov. 2006 p. 116) Do not go here unless you are an anthropology student at university interested in how gentrification works or you have been extremely offended by this candid review. - tullis , posted 11/24/06

Great Atmoshpere
This bar is a much needed in the Emeryville area, very welcoming bartenders, great drinks, and relaxing, yet vibrant atmoshpere! - Valerie , posted 05/06/06

Finally
A great low-key bar on Hollis, in Emeryville. Mellow crowd, great bartenders, eclectic DJs almost every night, a huge range of mixed drinks, and finaly - a place to find some decent wines after 9pm in the North Oakland/ Emeryville / Berkeley area. One solid Spanish and Portugeuse wine red each, but they're good enogh to drink all night. Preciso nada mas, neh? - Palmito , posted 03/27/06

divine
kitty's brings to the Oakland/Emeryville/Berkeley area the kind of place that reflects our true selves, urbanites who are on a blissful retreat in the east bay. Located at 67th & Hollis, kitty's reflects the industrial character of this district and the savoir vivre of the east bay. The bar menu is diverse, so is the line-up of dj's, and displays of artwork. Kitty's also has a cozy wherehouse feel that includes a spacious patio area, cozy booths, raw brick walls, and a long and curvaceous bar of exotic wood. beautiful and welcomed... - heather , posted 01/15/06
