and it skipped ahead without explaining what really happened to jean grey and why she was phoenix and then beasts makeup looked really cheap. It was entertaining tho and there were some good effects. - Za , posted 07/05/06 |

Great plot, interesting new characters, some really bold decisions re: the termination of other key characters, keeps the story moving forward for future movies, satisfactory writing, good action. No complaints, at all. - Skippy , posted 07/05/06 |

While this film had a few genuinely great moments, they are completely buried under loads of complete crap. I'm not even counting faithfulness to the source material since the first movie established clearly that the X-Men movies were far removed from the comics. This movies biggest sin is wasted potential. Too many story threads were crammed into too short of a movie. This could have been two great movies but because they wanted to cram everything into one movie they ended up with a muddled mess without any depth. Good ideas, terrible execution, one of the worst scripts ever. - Winter , posted 07/05/06 |

Okay, so this movie had a few cool action scenes. But the entire movie was built around a weak story (see comments about fooling with the comic), and it really didn't deliver on half of its potential. By far the lamest of the trilogy. - Capitol P , posted 07/05/06 |

I've seen all three and this was definitely my favorite. I've never read the comics, so I can only go by what the story renders and I thought they did a GREAT job considering that it was so packed full of stuff. Such an awesome mix of drama, sci-fi, special effects, overarching themes. It was fun, exciting and had me on the edge of my seat more than a few times. And by the way, JEAN was my favorite character. Talk about BAD ASSSSS!!! I want HER power but with the ability to control it. Hey, wait. I think I do have her power :-) YAY! I think I'll go raise the roof on the White House and pluck good ole' Georgie Porgie right out of the building. Perhaps I'll set him down in a cave with Osama Bin Ladin and let them go toe to toe. - Kalla B , posted 07/05/06 |

...take one star away for playing even faster and looser with the source material than the 1st 2 movies did, only replacing the sensitivity that a director like Bryan ("The Usual Suspects") Singer brought with the banal flash of a Brett ("Rush Hour") Ratner. And then there's managing to demote the entire Dark Phoenix saga—only one of the most epic stories ever told in the pages of the X-Men comics—to a badly-done sub-plot. >< Aside comment: Too much Halle Berry (...there's somthing I never thought I'd say...) and not enough Ian McKellen! There were good bits scattered through (like the chase scene going through wall after wall, Kitty Pryde phasing through and Juggernaut bursting through...nice to see Kitty get a little more screen-time!), but that's all they were. Worth a matinee price, but preferably if you weren't a fan of the comics in the first place. - Sonya , posted 06/07/06 |

What in the world was the people in charge thinking? The movie was good for the graphics and occasional lines, but otherwise it sucked. It didnt follow the comic, not that the others did. But it was not even close to the comic. It`s like they went "Eh, there was a comic but were gonna pretend there wasn`t one and do are own thing." Stupid people. I recommend seeing it just so you can be like we were at the end of the movie "What the fuck?" But I am very glad that we got in for free. Watch it just to critisize it. - Kimmie , posted 06/07/06 |

Don't read below this if you don't want to know details about Xmen III First off, I want to say that I am very familiar with the comics that these movies are based off but I try to put aside my knowledge of those comics when watching these movies as I understand that can’t put 30+ years of comic lore in 3 movies. Over all I was very happy with the movie. The special effects were awesome and some of the action scenes were totally out of this world. The two scenes at the end when the GG Bridge is moved and Phoenix destroys the compound was breath taking. I have never seen anything like that in any movie. Those two scenes alone are worth admission price. The acting quality in this movie was the best I have ever seen for a comic book movie. To be honest, I’m having trouble coming up with any Sci-Fi / Fantasy movie could actually rival it (from an acting perspective), except for maybe the Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter movies. The scenes with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in them together were just spine tingling. But honestly everyone did a spectacular job, even Kelsey Grammer was even damn good as Beast. I think my favorite new comers were Vinnie Jones (Juggernaut) and Ellen Page (Kitty Page). The only problem I had with the movie is that it was just too sort. It was only 1 hour 43 minutes long. They easily could have made it 2. I would have liked to see 2.5 or 3. It was disappointing because there was very little of Rouge or Mystique. Though I have heard rumors around tinsel town that there are scripts running around town that may give each of them their own film (and Wolverine too). I hope in the DVD release they have an extended version. One other fun thing about this movie is that they are running the Ghost Rider preview with it. It looks incredible, I had no idea they had such a great cast for it. So my final word. Xmen III gets an “A-“ - Unsubscribed , posted 06/06/06 |
