Nice folks, questionable stage floor, general struggles.
My time at Xeno was some years ago. Most of the staff there were super nice, for instance bringing fresh flowers into the gallery/ lounge for every performance night. The place is very easily accessible by public transportation. Also it was a very good deal money-wise for a nice, big performance space. However there was no greenroom or backstage which was a constant annoyance and never solved. Location is not the greatest, in the middle of a dead neighborhood with no reason for anyone to go out there unless you are looking for the Xenodrome. As for the "sprung marley floor," the staff always seemed inordinately proud of it and I can't imagine why. Examine this floor closely before using. This thing was not constructed very well and had big craters between the stringers where the plywood had collapsed, and into which people fall and get hurt. Might be fixed by now, or not. There were occasional moments of chaos such as, 1) No staff present to let people in for rehearsals or shows. 2) Staff problems with communication, tracking scheduling and payment. 3) Obvious hard drug use among the staff. 4) Disruptive bitch-fights among the staff. I also must mention, in case some readers can not tell, that the reviewer "sparkyrich" was one of the staff at Xeno, a great guy, and obviously somewhat biased. But you know what? Running a theater is tough work. Good luck Xeno. - picu , posted 02/02/08

The Bay's Best Theatre / Dance / Circus / Pilates Venue
No other venue I know of affords the versatility, affordability and space offered at Xenodrome. 24' X 24' sprung marley dance floor, lighting, full-length mirror wall, aerial rigging points, PA sound system, video projection equipment, ample front-of-house gallery space, plenty of street parking. It also has a full lighting complement and seats 80 as a theater. The space is available for rehearsals, classes, performances, photo & video shoots, & private events.

And yes, "the Drome" is also home to full service Bodicraft Pilates Studio, operated by Xeno's own Tiffany Parish.

Lisa Corvo of the SF weekly writes, "Funky...left me wanting more pilates."

For private or duet sessions, e-mail Tiffany at bodicraft1320@hotmail.com.
