open late-night, but a little sketchy
I'd been hearing great things about Tuk Tuk Thai for a looong time before I got takeout one night, and although they were very vegetarian/vegan friendly, fast, and yummy, two friends who ate separate dishes (both vegetarian and meat-eaters) said they felt sick afterwards. I've since heard similar tales... - Jenni , posted 06/12/05

good, affordable, veg-friendly Thai. open late!
Tuk Tuk Thai is very reliable - it's open til 1 or 2 am (when most everything else in Berkeley is closed), the food comes out quickly, staff is friendly, you can come out very full for under $10. If you order the veggie options they generally come with some seitan as well as tofu... yum.
Oh! and they have brown rice, too! - Florencia , posted 10/08/04

Sweet Casual Thai
Located at 2466 Shattuck Ave. in downtown Berkeley (cross street Haste). Open until 1:30am daily -- perfect for college students or late night clubbers. A very reasonably priced late night eating option, Tuk Tuk Thai offers an extensive menu, including pad thai and other staples, as well as friendly service. The food runs a bit sweet for some taste buds but is quite tasty overall. Alcohol is served. Decor includes an actual "tuk tuk", which is a kind of motorized or non motorized (the latter in this case) rickshaw which is a ubiquitous form of transportation in Thailand. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/06/04

Pumpkin curry!!!
This is one of the local late-night favorites I tend to try and frequent - mostly because of their special pumpkin curry!! SOOOOO tasty and very delicately flavored!

I've had a number of other dishes as well, I just have a thing for pumpkin! Their chicken satay is one of the best I've had. Order a coconut milk, and it's... well... a coconut that's been cut open and a straw added. Very refreshing and a nice treat. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/06/04
