So conflicted
I love transformers. I collect the toys with perhaps a bit more zeal that a late-thirties-something ought to have for kids toys.

This movie annoyed the crap out of me, and made my inner ten year old shriek with joy.

Anything in this movie involving giant space robots and total mayhem is brilliant beyond words. It really really is.

Anything in this movie involving romance, longing looks, or pathetic attempts at intrigue sucks beyond all reasonable prior standards of sucking.

The humor in the film is about 75-25...i.e. works about 75% of the time. But the scene with mom, dad, and the kids is just...er.....wrong. Really. Not right for this kind of movie, leave that stuff in the Farrelly Brothers basement where it belongs.

Shia LA-Boof (I forgot how to spell his name correctly) is really insanely good. Michael bay's directing is perfect for this kind of film. The CGI is stunning beyond all previous examples of the art. The writers however, need to be taken out behind a barn and SHOT.

For you purists who were concerned about the movie sticking close to the Generation One archetypes...well, the robots looks different, no denying that, but, and here's the important part, they all act exactly like their G1 selves. You'll be amazed how right they are.

All in all, for me at least, all the damn squishy pink humans totally ruined what could have been a really awesome movie.

Best Summer Movie So Far
So we went to see Transformers yesterday since I was off for the holiday. I have to admit when I first heard months ago that they were making a Transformers movie I expected it to be cheesy and stupid. Then we saw previews for it and I thought it might be ok. After having seen it I gotta say it was freakin awesome. It had action, a little Sci-Fi component, a little love interest, a couple tear jerker moments, and it was hella funny. It was probably the best movie I have seen this year and i recommend everyone check it out cause it is worth the price of admission. - Dollita , posted 07/05/07
