ended up going to Transformer after reading positive reviews. its a hip, informal joint where you get a good cut minus the hoopla for non-salon prices. (~$30-35 for guys) hopes this helps some of you kids in my position out... - watson , posted 09/15/05 |

I recently moved to the bay area and was dreading finding a new hairdresser. A friend suggested the lower haight area, so I made quite a few calls and finally found Transformer. Their prices were right (lower than most in the neighborhood) so I made an appointment with Christopher. He was really busy when I got there, but apologized and recommended a great coffee shop. I came back and we got started w/my hair. Chris seemed a little shy at first, but warmed up to me quickly. He cut and colored my hair blending my ideas and his visions together for an outstanding result. I was thrilled not only to have found a new stylist, but to have gotten a better result than I had expected. I would recommend Christopher to anyone I know and I would tell them to listen to what he says about their look/hair. - sara , posted 03/24/05 |

i got a hair cut here and it wasn't the best and wasn't the worst. it was just okay. the place has a hip, gritty feel. it's a little cold inside, though! it's a pretty basic salon, no frills, and a bit pricey for the neighborhood. - blue , posted 03/22/05 |

But I didn't ask for one. I went to Transformers, and, as per tribe recs, I asked for Christopher. All I wanted was a trim, but Christopher perhaps, didn't realize that curly hair rises faster than heat! I went from shoulder legnth curls to afro! He may be friendly, but he's a hope crushing dream killer when it comes to ethnic hair. - d , posted 03/17/05 |

I came here based on tribe.net raves and specifically requested Christopher. Oh, I rue the day. He cut off 3 inches when I wanted a trim, but hey, hair grows, right? But in the meantime, I also have this horrid cut that does not flatter and even he couldn't style it well. When I came home, NO ONE thought it looked good. - Amanda , posted 03/17/05 |

My experience with Christopher has been excellent. Today 3/19/05 I went back for the 2nd time and was very pleased. My desire was to brighten up my hair and give it some oomph, phazazz and change the color. The 1st time Chris colored it was a miracle, because I had used an over the counter product that made my hair gold brassy. I used ultra violet shampoo that helped tone it, but Chris performed a miracle that got me lots of compliments. The color he did today worked with his previous work but gave me a new look and feel. Christopher and I discussed the colors and what exactly I wanted. He worked with me, listened, made suggestions and we agreed and compromised. If I had a complaint, it would be that Chris is too caring, strives too hard for perfection and wants his customers to feel like they are beautiful & look incredible. Hey! You wouldn't complain about someone like that would you? I know that if I did have a problem with Christopher he would be 100% willing and able to correct it and make it good. I recommend Christopher, he is real people and the other people that work there are friendly, nice and real. - mona , posted 03/19/05 |

Haircuts are cheap ($35) and GOOD. I am constantly getting compliments on my hair and even though I go through this long drawn out hair visualization process to ensure that I don't end up looking like an 80s pineapple, I still say it's half the folks here. Book with anyone, I've had my hair done by all three of them and it's always been fantastic. - amy , posted 10/15/04 |
