Inhospitable Saturday Service From Chris - Feb 2, 2008
After calling ahead, I went into this branch to check out their safe deposit boxes. I met Chris, (Financial Services Manager), who immediately shoved the application form in front of me, instructing me where to sign. When I asked a few questions about the bank and its capabilities/environment, he acted very busy and said that Mechanics wasn't the bank for me. He couldn't answer my questions about the bank's climate, and said that he was told that the boxes were fireproof but the thing which made the biggest impression on me was his unwillingness to seek out answers to my questions. He was vague and as soon as I began trying to find out important information he acted as if I didn't matter. He did, however, want to know what bank in Berkeley I did business with.
When we spoke on the phone I indicated a willingness to establish a savings/matket account with him due to the fact that they had the size boxes I was interested in. Chris quickly dismissed this opportunity for a new customer. I left very disappointed....
