rare and delightful movies here
Lovely, cosy little neighborhood theatre, where for years onward you get to start conversations with the phrase,
"This was where I got to see..."

They bring in the lovely, the thoughtful, the delightful art films.

This is where I got to see Triplets of Belleville. This is where friends just went to a documentary on a fabulous percussionist.

This one's worth traveling out of your way to get to.

Double Feature Old time SF
The Balboa is great. Nice selection of movies..owned by folks in the neighboorhood who love film. It's free on your birthday. They have real butter on the popcorn and lots of extras to sprinkle on top. Cafe Trieste coffee and of course, the double feature. Simple Pleasures is a great coffee shop up the street and Chinos right next door is the best burrito outside the mission. On the 31 Balboa bus line. - Anna , posted 12/28/04

Awesome Double Features
The Balboa is such a deal- for $7.50 you get to see two GOOD movies. They even have a weekly newsletter to keep you up to date on movies that are coming and going, with lots of links to movie info and trivia and sometimes free passes. It's a welcome change from the generic multiplex and has a classy charm. - Kim , posted 10/14/04
