you don't get what you pay for
I patronize this place because I really like Mitchell's ice cream, and they change the flavors so you get a wonderful variety. However, I've noticed more than once that if you buy a pint, they don't fill the container up. Sometimes it's just short a little, but last week I opened up a pint to find that it was barely 2/3 full. The next time I went in, I told them about it, but they insisted (in their somewhat limited English) that they always do it "full," they didn't even apologize, and they certainly didn't offer me any of my money back. I'll go back there, but from now on, I'll watch them and inspect my pints before they put the cover on and before I pay. - lillian , posted 08/07/08

Bad customer service
I went there to get a thai tea, I asked for no ice in the drink and she said that if I wanted no ice in the drink she would have to charge me extra....I asked why, and she said because with no ice I would be getting more "tea". I thought this was ridiculous!!!!! They totally lost me as a customer. Never going there again. I mean it makes me wonder, if they're so obsessed on saving a few cents, imagine how old the food and stuff they sell there is - sherry , posted 09/13/07

Don't Get Comfortable at Tay Tah ...
They actually have a sign on the one wall outlet that says NOT to use their electricity for your computer! Maybe they saved 5c on electricity, but they lost me and my friend as lunch customers, and I won't be back if the policy remains. Talk about foolish business policies. ... - Steve , posted 03/14/07

Family friendly locale
This cafe is owned by a Thai family and all work in it or in the neighboring restaurant.
The overall atmosphere is authentically Thai in terms of culture and service, although the coffee and snacks are pan-Asian. Family-friendly atmosphere with games and children's books stocked in the cafe. - Mark , posted 07/02/06

Retro Perfection on Solano Ave
The Tay Tah Cafe is a new place to chill out and relax on Solano Ave. and it's easily the coolest to look at too. Tasty treats abound and the entire cafe has the feel of a retro candy store combined with an Asian ice cream palor crossed with an espresso baked goods place. Tay Tah's take on retro ambiance far exceeds many other Bay Area attempts plus they are kid friendly! A big plus for parents and nannies.
Apart from fresh popped popcorn and unique and classic Mitchell's ice cream flavors , the menu includes Tapioca drinks, exotic smoothies, healthy salads, sandwichs, bagels, ginger drinks, rice teas and a wonderful array of baked goods and coffee drinks.
The staff is VERY friendly too. Don't miss out on this wonderful place with the best selection of Asian and retro American candies I've seen in a while.
