being the daughter of stonemountain & daughter is the best gig i could have hoped for. little did i know when i was 22 that it would turn out this great. thank you all for discovering what stonemountain magic is all about. if you still have not been in or it's been awhile come check us out. our staff is the very best and our selection is like none other. we truly are a unique berkeley experience. thanks dad for 27 great years of always reaching to be the best we can be! - Suzan , posted 01/04/08 |

What more could you ask for? Unlike the big mall places, this store has just fabric - simple, fancy, what have you, with a large quilting frabric room, silks, upholstery, and more. The best is the large selection of patterns, incluing the standard Vogue and Butterick, as well as patterns by local designers and artists. Yet another of my wife's favorites, Stonemountain and Daughter carries what is likely THE best and largest selection of silks, linens, wools, rayons, and cottons in the Oakland/Berkeley area. It's a large store that is positively jam-packed with fabrics and accessories. This is a great place for quilting fabrics and supplies. They also have a huge selection of buttons. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. Perhaps best of all, this store offers various sewing and crafting courses on a very regular basis. This is in downtown Berkeley, so parking can be an issue, but it's only a few blocks from BART. If you don't find what you're looking for at Stonemountain and Daughter, you'll be hard-pressed to find it in this area at all. - Hagbard , posted 10/09/04 |

Located in downtown Berkeley, 2518 Shattuck. Wow. This place has an unbelievably enormous selection of cottons, velvets, silks, african fabrics, japanese prints, specialty buttons, and even a limited selection of cascade brand yarn. You wouldn't expect to find the warehouse-like amount of space they have in downtown Berkeley, but there it is, as convenient as can be. They also offer a wide variety of classes, for the novice through expert levels, and even knitting classes. The staff is congenial and clearly enjoy working there. Hi Jon, This is a great shop and it's in the East Bay on Shattuck, just before Dwight Way. I've heard nothing but good things about this place and I have gone in there and really liked their fabric selection. I'm not sure about prices, though, but I know they are one of the most popular fabric stores in the East Bay. They also have classes and the people who work there are super nice.
