comically smug pessimistic cuteness
After seeing his work gracing the walls of Jay's I fell in love. There is a crazed hilarity and quirky malevolence about his work. Some of the images are downright scary, but in the same way that the world can be scary. They are both cruel and kind. The guy is obviously brilliant. I can't even imagine what he must be like in person. - Matt , posted 08/03/06

I fell in love with Sirron Norris's work at Jay's on Divis...
When the 2nd Jay's Cheesesteak opened on Divisadero awhile ago, they had his colorful cartoon characters hanging on their walls. My favorite was his character with the shirt on that read "I eat kids". I wanted to buy it, but I simply couldn't fork out the dough. I still regret that when I go to Jay's and see the murals that are there now. I saw him on the bus with one of his works on his way to hang it for a show at the Upper Playground in the Lower Haight. I know that cuz a guy on the bus was asking him about the art he had. (I was too shy to talk to him.) So I want to make up for those regrets by declaring my love for his work right here and now!! - Unsubscribed , posted 02/13/06
