I wanted Salwar Kameez (Indian Pantsuits which come with a scarf) for Burningman. I went into several Indian shops where I felt unwelcome, before a friend recommended this place. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and very into knocking something off the price for buying more, etc. I told them I wanted Salwar Kameez with nice embroidery or mirror work, and they steered me to a good rack, where I found three gorgeous sets that got me a lot of "nice sari" comments (though they cost about 1/3 as much as a saree and are easier to manage). They also helped me pick out bracelets and bindis. Not only do they have traditional and understated sets, they have wilder stuff with retro prints, so you can find stuff there that's good for weddings, parties, or work. - Hen , posted 09/11/06 |
