Okay, so here's my recent experience with this shop: 7/27/09 Pay $800 for Brakes and Car Door handle Pick up car and about to leave when I notice the door frame a little loose. Also there are scratches in the tint. Also, there is another key because if I wanted to use the same key it would cost extra. This was not mentioned in the original estimate. Ask Matt about the panel and someone from the shop says the clips broke. I was about to drive off this way. Show him the scratch and he says he'll get it re-tinted for me. Also offers to get a different door handle for more money. Matt says he couldn't get the part until the following week. We schedule for Friday and he was going to confirm on Thursday that the part came in and everything is fine. 8/6/09 No call on Thursday. Gave them a call in Thursday afternoon and he says the part still did not come in. Says for sure it'll be here that day and we reschedule for Monday AM. 8/10/09 Drive down from SF on Monday and Matt greets me saying that the technician that is to work on my car is not in. 8/12/09 Reschedules for Wednesday. They want $90 bucks for the difference for the handle as well as the trim on the outside of the handle. Didn't do the tint, wants to either keep the car overnight or have me drive the car over to the tinting place in the AM. Only had to pay $55 bucks for the difference...thanks. 8/13/09 Finally got the tint done and never coming back to Quality Tune-Up again. - tony , posted 08/24/09 |

I have been going to them for last 3 years. Great friendly service and most importantly they are knowledagle about cars. I have a BMW and Honda and they know my cars inside out. They did my timing belt for half price then dealers and offered me a free rental car. I will recommend them to anyone and everone. - Bob Hernandez , posted 03/23/08 |

I had a bad car service experience here. I went in for a car smog test and Quality Tune Up later tried to push me to agree to expensive diagnostic test ($98 an hour) for failing an emissions test. I originally came in thinking this was like a $30 smog test as advertised. They wouldn't do a retest unless I accepted further testing. So I declined their "help" and went to another certified service center and they told me there was NO emissions problems when my car passed the smog test. So Quality Tune Up Shop either doesn't know how to perform a smog test properly or tried to fraud or scam me. I complained to the regional management of Quality Tune Up and they did not offer to resolve the problem. If you look them up on the BBB, they are rated as unsatisfactory by the Better Business Bureau for not responding to a number of consumer complaints. sanjose.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx If you have any problems with this automotive shop, please file your consumer complaint with California's Bureau of Automotive Repair: www.autorepair.ca.gov/StdPage.asp They are part of the Department of Consumer Affairs and will investigate any problems for consumers. - Santa Clara , posted 12/21/07 |

I haven't been disappointed with the auto service I receive at Quality Tune-Up. I have also patronized their location in Walnut Creek and received similar excellent service. They are quick to diagnose and fix most problems, and they keep in communication with their customers. If the problem persists or if new ones crop up after the car is returned to you, they are quick to fix it up with no questions.
