Whether you've got a dog or just love being with dogs, the Point Isabella dog park is a delightful (typically windy) way to enjoy a walk by the bay. Well socialized dogs are welcome in accompaniment of mindful humans to clean up after them and leash them if need be. The sheer size of this park gives dogs a delightful sense of freedom... freedom to run, freedom to splash in the bay, freedom to play with other dogs and people in a place where dogs are truly loved.  If you've got a dog and you want to get out & get off leash, this is THE spot. A big open space with a great view of the bay. Great community feel, can get really busy on the weekend, but there's lotsa space to romp around. And it's spelled "Point Isabel" in case you need to look it up. - Joe , posted 10/07/04 |

Everyone knows about this place, but if you don't you need to. Point Isabell is like Dog Heaven. It's right behind the Costco in El Cerrito. Get off the 580/80 at Central and turn left. Do you own a dog? Does this dog play well with others? Do you love long walks by the beach? If you answered yes to these three questions, then Point Isabella Dog Park is for you! It is tucked behind Costco off of 580W (Central Ave exit) and there is also a very cool dog store there as well. No leashes are rquired, there are poop bags supplied, and plenty of friends for your pooch to play with.
