Bill Hicks lives!
So I don't know if the name Bill Hicks means anything to you all, but for those to whom it does, I think we can all agree that the world lost something valuable when he died. At the risk of creating excessively high expectations, I think the comedian I went to see last night could be the next Hicks. He is that oh so rare combination of insightful into the way the world is and works, intelligent enough to present this insight cogently and to tie in everything from physics to psychopharmacology into his routine, pissed off about the things that he sees that need to change, has a spiritual / evolutionary perspective such that he sees how much better we all could be if we just saw these things and changed them, and funny enough to make you laugh at all of it. - Heliocide , posted 09/11/07

It hasn't even happened yet!
Tomorrow and Saturday night kids! It's a goin' on! I've been getting five star reviews from other cities, so I just thought I'd pre-review myself as being totally excellent.
Get yerself some details from the website I listed, or just head to the address at 8PM either night!
Here's the last review I got from Indianapolis' NUVO magazine-

"Stand-up at its inspired best, comedy that refuses to give in to the
twisted times we live in. At last, a comedian who actually assumes the
audience is intelligent enough to get that God is a sense of humor. Makes
you feel a little less lonely as you laugh yourself off your seat. Van Hest
is hilarious, subversive and very, very smart. In other words, he hits it
out of the park. If you’ve begun to fear most stand-up seems like it’s been
punched out of some permanently post-adolescent purgatory, this is the show
you’ve been needing. Don’t miss it."

So, totally listen to THAT guy. - Phi! , posted 09/06/07
