 It's so cool that we have an entirely vegan store, of which one can browse, in the city! Not many places can say that:) I bought a sweet pair of veggie shoes there and wear them all the time. The one thing about Otsu, though, is that you definitely have to spend time looking at things carefully. It's a small store, but it's packed with a bunch of stuff and if you don't look over everything carefully, you are bound to miss something really cool. - Christina , posted 03/09/06 |

I went into Otsu looking for a vegan snack, and was amazed to see the selection of shoes, hats, purses, backpacks, wallets, other lovely oddities that you can't find anywhere else! I can't go here too often, else I spend too much money! - Jenni , posted 03/09/06 |

I got to say that I love these people because they go to so much effort to promote local artists and artisans. Much of what they sell is handmade, but very well constructed and put together (they sell quite a bit of Queen Bee stuff, which is super spendy, but once you buy it it will never wear out, ever) by determined young craftspeople just like you and I. They have a great relationship with other neighborhood businesses, and are, in general, very well-adjusted down-home neighborly people. My definite favorite place to buy presents, because I know that my money is going right back into the community, be it the Mission proper or the artists' community at large. - H. , posted 10/24/04 |

Come to Otsu for stylish and (100% vegan!) shoes, bags, and clothing you won't find anyplace else (except maybe Portland). They've got a unique look, all the way from the art on the wall to the cute little coin purses....and it's all animal free. But don't think you have to be vegan to shop here- many omnivores have also been known to drool over stuff from my #1 favorite all-veggie shop! - Boots , posted 10/18/04 |

Otsu rules. That's all there is to it. Where else can you find a purse with a James Brown 45 in it? Or messenger bags made from Barcelona street banners? Everything they have is too hip for your own good -and- good for the environment. All the items are hand made, mostly by local folk, and they only support vegan and vegetarian companies. Vegan shoes that feel like leather, and clothing and accesories to make anyone feel cool. They're on 16th between Dolores and Guerrero across the street from Body Manipulations.
