Okami
Just picked up this game (yeah I know I'm late with it...) and already very obsessed. Visual style is beautiful - it brings games to an unmistakable level of art to even the most condescending viewer. The controls are extremely fluid and easy to pick up on. Okami features a "brush mode" in which the world turns in a rice paper and sumi ink drawing, and you use the "Celestial Brush" to paint things into being. The nature of this is particularly interesting, challenging the player to think of creative ways to use each of the brush moves. Best of all however - the main character is *female*. - Angi the Lost , posted 03/28/07

Most beautiful and innovative game I've ever played!
In Okami, you play a sun god in the form of a wolf, working to rid the land of evil spirits and restore beauty and nature to the land. You are equipped with a magic brush, with which you can literally redraw the scenery, land, and attack evil spirits.

This game is simply stunning, the artwork, design, and character movement is unlike anything I've ever seen before. I believe that this is a game that *anyone* will love.

The only issue I've had with it so far is that your sidekick "helper" is a little too annoying at times, and you can't skip past certain slow dialogue scenes, but that's not atypical... - Jenni , posted 10/15/06
