Irish Bar - The Girls who speak Gaelic
Of all the realatively unknown haunts I've found in San Francisco, this one is one of my favorites. Two pool tables, bar tenders who know you even if you've only been in twice and a heavy pour when the drinks are done! - Natasha , posted 10/17/04

O'Farrell Street Bar
Until owner Martina McGrath took charge in 2000 OSB was known as O'Farrell Sports Bar. The official name now is the O'Farrell Street Bar, and it is still reasonable to expect plenty of sports on all of several screens in this Tenderloin dive. (Why is the tenderloin not an option in Tribe's San Francisco neighborhoods?) More interesting though, is the roster of regulars eager for a friendly game on one of two pool tables. Somehow OSB patrons manage to keep thier pool competitive and fun at the same time - i.e. drunken girlfriends are not generally invited to play in "doubles" matches while "sharks" are not known to dominate competition. The mix of neighborhood regulars, Irish lushes and business travelers makes for some gratifying people watching. My gripe: they installed one of those cursed internet juke boxes that seem to be taking over. I hate those things. - J-Bird , posted 10/15/04
