Yoga and the Yogi
What a lovely and inspiring film! It's sounds, faces and the Himalayan landscapes are at once awe inspiring and entrancing.
Kya Bath!
The exressions on the faces of the characters tell most of the story. I was moved to see such deep smiles of contentment and satisfaction... as well as, the subtle tales of suffering and confusion. The Yogi must experience and transcend both of these. Sounds kind of Jedi like to me... no? Santosh Giri, Ganga Giri, and the rest of the yogis portrayed do not fail in teasing out emotion, drawing curiosity, and exposing the viewer to other worlds....
First and foremost, these , super human seekers express a heartfelt longing to cover one's bodies in ashes, become intitiated within the oldest of austerities, and walk the often rugged path - to be called a 'Yogi' . This movie not only tell's the incredibly ancient tale of the sadhu with eloquence and beauty, but it also succeeds in transmitting their timeless message of love and service to those of us presiding over the present 'Kali Yuga' in our other ways. Go see this film when you can. It's playing at the Raphael Theater in San Raphael at 6:45, but I'm not sure for how much longer...
