Mail forwarding with Flair
I'm moving from a house in San Francisco to an international location shortly. One of the services I needed was mail forwarding. The USPS will forward to US addresses, but not to international locations. Reasonable, given the cost. I've been shopping around for such a service on the web off and on for some time. After checking in with a couple of services in Houston, TX, and Manhattan who would do everything I needed, I decided to check on some local offerings. I looked at the UPS Store (formerly Mailboxes, Etc.) since I had dealt with them in a former lifetime. Then I went back to a service I had used nearly ten years ago for a business I was running.

I spent five minutes on the phone with Chris, the owner, and I was immediately sold. Chris knew what he was talking about, had clearly done similar work for other clients in the past, and had very reasonable prices in comparison to every other place I'd called or visited. For a flat fee for the mailbox, you get a real address, a box you can check on 24/7, and so much more. They have an email address and are comfortable communicating with clients that way. Chris made it clear he could easily forward my first class mail (only!) at whatever schedule I liked. They will also accept packages for any service, including couriers, UPS, DHL, FedEx, and the like. Best of all, he can check on my box at any time and let me know if there is anything there, what it is, and so forth. He also said he'll accept as much mail per month as I receive at this address. They're also familiar with international forwarding, and have some great tricks up their sleeves to minimize shipping costs.

Since I'll be gone for quite some time, they gave me a discount on the box price. This all sounded too good to be true. But, I stopped by their office on Sanchez, just at Market, and it's all true. Chris is a very energetic guy, easy to talk to, and willing to talk about any aspect of the service. There's a minimum of paperwork to fill out, a key deposit, and that was that. All in all, I saved over $200 per year in box rental fees by going with these folks, and could save as much as $500 in costs to forward my mail.

Whether you need a street address, a business address, a place that will always accept your packages, mail forwarding services, or something as complicated as sorting through mail, packing only the first class stuff, and sending it to an international address, Market Street Mail House is the place to go. - Bryce , posted 01/08/07
