13 is ideal if want to look sharp and tip a pint with the fair-to-middling crowd. Lots a beer on tap and they can be had for the right price. Pal around with one of your mates or just kick back oggle the candy. Who cares? Life must be elsewhere. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/07/06 |

This place is divey without being dirty. The hipster quotient when I've been there has been low (this would be a plus, if you're not sure). The beer selection is pretty great. This is a good place to chill before or after whatever else you're planning for the night. - Kali's Evil Twin , posted 09/19/05 |

I've always been pleased with the staff. The atmosphere is cashual though loud as fuck, but I guess that only means I'm getting old. great decor and great beer selection. - Flaming , posted 04/13/05 |

Rock out with your cock out style bar...reaaaal loud, back patio that is small , interesting people that show up. Not really a pickup type place as its too damn loud to talk to anyone..more of a professional drinker type place.. Good jukebox! - Unsubscribed , posted 03/21/05 |

Fun spot, little large, beer snobbish, a fun place to go on occasion. Put it this way...... it's no 500 club. - Count , posted 02/25/05 |

Being right on Church & Market, and next to the underground and aboveground buslines, it's not too surprising to see SF hipsters on their way home from work meander into this pub. What keeps them here is the kickass jukebox and the cheap yet tasty beverages. Perfect for an afterwork/pre-shindig cocktail or beer. And it doesn't hurt that the lady bartenders are hot in that Suicide Girls pinup kind of way. - Bonnie , posted 12/23/04 |

Since when did being a beer snob coincide so closely with biker bars in SF? I prefer the Noc Noc in Lower Haight. The Lucky 13 reminds me of Zeitgeist, and I wouldn't be surprised if the same people frequent both. Certainly, the same kind of people frequent both. - Dave K. , posted 10/28/04 |

It's a great, solid neighborhood bar with a slight edge. I'm fond enough of this joint to celebrate my birthday there, so it must be good, right? - Kamio , posted 10/21/04 |

Definitely one of my top 5 bars in the city for atmosphere, beer selection and the jukebox!!! - kerry , posted 10/20/04 |

I love this place, but it never seems to draw crowds. It's not a complaint. Hell, I love having a place to drink in peace at 11pm on a Friday. So I ask you -- San Francisco people -- why are you afraid of Lucky 13? - CityRat , posted 10/18/04 |

Lucky 13 has a rockabilly decor with all the attendant hearts and spades and vampy girls on the walls. It's also got a STELLAR beer list complete with trappist ales from Belgium. Hell yeah. There's a tiny garden outside that's great on a nice night, and there's a pool table inside. - sarah , posted 10/18/04 |

I'm sure that if you compare Zeitgeist and Lucky 13 as hard, loud, gruff bars, Zeitgeist will kick 13's ass. BUT. Sometimes you don't want to wander all the way over to Zeitgeist, Tamale Lady or no. And maybe Toronado is too far. Lucky 13 rocks, especially if you're a Castro local who isn't interested in the Castro meat market. It's the neighborhood bar where no one knows your name, and even if they did, it's too loud for you to hear them shout it out. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/17/04 |

Theme: black cats and eight-balls. Features: bizarre posters and black lighted kitsch behind the bar; pool table; patio out back for smoking and the occasional barbque; two upper lofts; pin ball games; excellent and heavy juke box; indulgent and knowing bartenders; great drinks and beer; free popcorn. You will recognize this joint from the outside by the giant black eight-ball with a 13 on it, and a big black cat - oh, and the outside wall is intensely red, with a really dimly lit interior. A great place to hang out, more spacious than many and a fun crowd of regulars. Weekends get pretty busy fast. - jules , posted 10/15/04 |

Really cool crowd, if you're not a yuppy that is. This bar has the best jukebox in the city if you're into metal. As someone who appreciates good beer, I really respect the fact that they refuse to sell Bud, Coors and Miller. If you want cheap domestic beer, they have PBR in cans. Oh yeah, and the free popcorn is crucial. - ColonelTCB , posted 10/15/04 |
