Great place for breakfast
My friends and I had lunch here. One of my friends suggested that I have the waffles with fried chicken, as it seems to be the only place that serves it here in the east bay. The fried chicken was crispy and the meat was very tasty. The services was great, as the owner was very attentive to our tables needs. As for the pies, we had the lemon ice block which has a creamy texture, almost like soft ice cream. And the second was the sweet potato pie, that has a hint of cinnamon and almost taste like pumpkin pie. - Marc , posted 04/17/05

Soul Food for Breakfast (or Lunch)
This somewhat small and out-of-the-way, family-operated (Lois died several years ago) gem serves simple, but delicious "soul food" (chicken & waffles, for example) and, of course, plenty of pie. Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; Sat., 7 a.m.-3 p.m.; Sun., 7 a.m.-4 p.m. - Mirage , posted 10/13/04

I've never had the pies...
But the breakfast here is great. Salmon Croquetes with Gritz is my favorite. They also have a tasty fried chicken breakfast. The place is always packed with people on weekends, and everyone's in a pretty good mood. - Anca , posted 10/10/04

Yes! Soul food!
Wonderful grits. Lovely biscuits. Nice fried chicken. When I miss my mom's cooking, I go here. A great place to go for Southern cuisine. A horrible place to go if you're on Atkins ... - Eli , posted 10/06/04
