Tribe is Good....but it we liked the feel of it better before...how 'bout indulging the members in a little nostalgia and offering to bring some of it back? i'm aware that everyone can't be made happy...too many conflicting views...but, how's about some consensus building...i don't know one person who likes the look and feel of the new tribe page...it certainly has caused me to participate less...and in this case, less is not more. - Todd , posted 04/16/06

How hard would it be to design a new social software?
I'm fairly sure that anyone who designed another back-to-basics tribe-style social network would have an immediate following by everyone who tribe has disillusioned.

I don't think any of us minded tribe's needing ad revenue to stay afloat, but look at craigslist - they serve the community very well, all over the world, and they're not doing anything evil. They just keep it simple and make it available.

There's a German word for improving something to the point of making it worse. Since I forget what it is, if we have any German scholars here, please clue Tribe in.

I hardly ever come here anymore, and I used to be a fan, I used to send them feedback, etc. Not anymore. I come here strictly at a minimum.

Maybe that's a good thing - the 3D world is better, after all...

my tribe
my opinion is that my tribe is my least favorite version of my profile site, because my forum to interact with my friends used to be less myopic. My hope is that my space... oh wait, my mistake, it is my tribe. My hope is that my tribe will not waste my time putting my profile on another one of myriad of choices for my internet comunity.

I have a theory...
that I'm about to post, although I'm uncertain as to how many people it will reach as I can't remember the last posting I read from a friend since these changes.

i hate the homepage too. instead of feeling like a town square where many different things are going on in plain view, I feel like I have walked into the lobby of a formal and stuffy corporate building where I must now guess behind which unmarked doors everyone might be hiding. - Irenie , posted 03/27/06

New Tribe home page is unusable
I've been a professional UI designer for the last 15 years, currently for Adobe Systems, so this is not random whining - the new home page must have been designed by a dark room full of blind monkeys; it's absolutely unusable, the layout is utterly arbitrary, and design changes have made the page almost impossible, and certainly unpleasant, to use, for no discernable gain. Major rule of UI upgrades: if you take something away that people are used to, you must do that in exchange for something so compelling as to make the lost features a moot issue. It wasn't great before, but it worked - this doesn't work at all. - onlinePhilentropy , posted 01/24/06
