Best Vegan restaurant for its price! Herbivore is a great place to have breakfast, lunch OR dinner! The rench toast is OH so good! Thier lunch and dinner menus are so diverse! Dishes from all over the world; many vegan naturally. Super good chile and cornbread! Great sandwiches and salads! Awesome pastas, stir-frys, etc etc. Im doing a horrible job at expressing how great they really are....and fair prices! Even vegan drinks, coffees and desserts! I have brought many of my NON-vegan/veggie friends and fam, and they have all liked it. Theres one on Valencia, and one on Divisadero. Equally good in my oppinion. Yummm now im hungry.....! - Lauren , posted 08/03/06 |

I have had brunch at the Divisadero location twice. The menu is extensive, creative (but not weird) and very flavorful! The corncakes are great. Plus the coffee is made in a big french press, yum. - Ilana , posted 05/30/06 |

Not great, but ok. The last time I went there, the waitress acted as if we weren't waiting to get serviced. But when she finally came over, she gave a "hurry up" type a vibe, a complete turnoff. But since they have Rice Dreams Soy Ice Cream, it gets an "OK". - Meka , posted 05/09/06 |

You'll notice that people either love or hate this place. I can only imagine that the rave reviews come from people who've never had good vegan food, and are just thrilled to have found a vegan restaurant at all. This is the worst vegan restaurant I've ever been to. It's near my house, so I've given the place about a dozen chances over the years, and they're very consistent in their crappiness. The service at Herbivore is on par with Paris circa 1985: “le suck”. I've had the weekend brunch a couple of times and it was okay, and the service was much better. - davel , posted 04/15/06 |

Herbivore is at best completely mediocre. I hate that people rave about this place. Vegan cuisine should not be represented by Herbivore - they don't care about their food, they never change it, it's sloppy and tasteless and BORING and BLAND. Ugh, I really hate it there. - very , posted 03/31/06 |

I had a wonderful experience with the food I ordered, but two of my friends couldn't even EAT their dishes, and they aren't picky eaters at all. They both got noodle dishes, and their sauces were just so over-the-top full of flavor that they were inedible. I had seitan kebob, and it was delicious. - holly , posted 01/18/06 |

i just went this past weekend and loved it! i can't wait to go back and try all the different dishes. it helps that you know it is so good for you--it satisfied the tastebuds of even non-vegans like me. try the wrap with side salad--it's the best deal on the menu. - Ruthy , posted 11/17/05 |

I've always had great luck at both locations. I love thier shawarma and ceviche (plus they have the best german chocolate cake in the city!). - Unsubscribed , posted 11/01/05 |

The best dish on the menu is the Lemon Creme Pasta - YUM. I used to love the veggie burgers but then they had to ruin them by overloading them with beets. Also the service is sporadic at best. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/15/05 |

I love vegan food - was ecstatic to try Herbivore. Boooo! to their dinner - only satisfactory item there is the tacos. The rest of the recipes are simple and tasteless - NOT VEGAN dinners of goodness of how I know them to be. And by the way - simple does not have to be tasteless and bland@@@!!!!!!!!! A friend dragged me back, spouting love of their breakfast. Glad I went, he was right - BREAKFAST IS HOW THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS.!!! - Walesa , posted 10/12/05 |

The mousakka was awful. I had the pesto gnocci years ago and loved it. I usually go to Dividadero location. and have never had trouble with service. Great salad dressing and veggis dressing. - Catherine , posted 07/30/05 |

The thing here is to keep it simple. Order the grilled veggies and you'll be happy...get all fancy with the moussaka and you'll wish you had stayed home! Parking is easier and service is better at the Mission restaurant. Divisadero kind of sucks and you'll probably be served by a grumpy, fat sick looking woman that does not "sell" the benefits of healthy eating. - Chanta , posted 07/28/05 |

I had heard such wonderful things and I was dissapointed. There mushrooms seemed canned and the service/wait was totally not worth it. - Whitney , posted 01/18/05 |

There are two locations in SF, one at Divisadero/Hayes and the other on Vallejo. Awesome food, fun casual surroundings, entrees under $10. Do NOT miss the vegan Carrot Cake and German Chocolate Cake. I drive an hour just for a slice! I take out-of-towners here to show vegan food can be as fast as carnie food and taste SO MUCH BETTER while not hurting anyone. Bon Apetite! - Michelle , posted 11/29/04 |

I won't go there again. I've never been happy with a meal or service there, and they put bell peppers in fucking everything without telling you! - Unsubscribed , posted 11/18/04 |

I love the food, and the prices are really reasonable. If the food wasn't so good, I would never return. It's because the "service" - if you can call that - is the worst. I have eaten at the Herbivore on Divisadero St. a number of times and the service is consistently awful. It's not that they are rude - they are just completely clueless and tend to ignore you - I have a few friends who refuse to go back because of it. I have worked in restaurants and eat out all the time - I rarely complain about service - but Herbivore is in a class by itself. - Unsubscribed , posted 11/13/04 |

Divisidero is a bit warmer and less the Mission scene- Valencia is always freezing. I wish they'd fix their swinging door that never seems too shut. The food gets cold and you can't get warm. Kinda wish they would change up the menu too. Great salads. Pasta dishes sometimes lacking. - tim, the mighty , posted 11/12/04 |

Went there with a bunch of friends the other night, and discovered it was really easy to over-order b/c the dishes were big. Yummy healthy servings, $20 each including a few drinks, and the service was much better than I had heard about from the other one on Valencia. I can't wait to go back! - Patsy , posted 11/08/04 |

Not all of the dishes at Herbivore are good but the ones that are good are very good. Prices are fair but the service is spotty at best depending on who you get. My favorite dishes include the spring rolls, burrito, Schwarma, breakfast burrito, veggie burger and pancakes. Nice decor. In any case I'm happy they are there. - Warren , posted 10/19/04 |

head over to the Valencia street Herbivore for some delicious, nutritious food. I recommend their burritos. - Megan , posted 10/15/04 |

The two herbivores in SF are great places to get fast and healthy veggie food. I adore their lentil loaf! - Unsubscribed , posted 10/15/04 |
