Grocery Outlet Rules
The one in Berkeley rocks too... best place to get decent affordable beer and wine in Berkeley/North Oakland - John , posted 08/08/07

Cheap Food! Some Organics!!
You never know what they'll have, yet you can save a BUTTLOAD over even Trader Joe's for some stuff.
It's all current dated food, not spolied or seconds. I think it's because all the other supermarkets get too much of this or that, and these guys capitalize on that.
It's definitely worth checking out. Not a great place to scope out the hot babes, but it's not too Ghetto Mart (like the Super Saver in Emeryville).
There's also one off University and 80 in Berkeley. It's even bigger!

Some examples of what I just got today:

box of Vegan energy bars for $2.99. That's how much they'd sell for EACH at Trader Joe's or another place.
99 cent organic soy milk
99 cent knudsen recharge
1.99 organic kosher dills
99 cent organic mangos
1.99 Tom's of Maine
1.99 loaf of Vital Vittles organic 9 grain bread
Organic soups out the wazoo that are half what you'd pay at Whole Paycheck
1.79 Kashi cereal
1.79 organic crackers
cheap wine too!

also bath & body:
Kiss My Face Organic lotion for $2 as opposed to $10
all kinds of other stuff, even $49 Coleman tents- hey Burners!
Stanley tools.

Today, the woman said, "Thank you, you've saved $53 today". Holy Sheeit!!

I wanted to share all this with my lovable community at large because the price of food is about to hit the roof (of course, because we subsidize Ethanol from corn for use as a red-herring "biofuel". Total BS).
