Sorry friends, I like supporting local indies, but I tried GreenCine for a few months and ended up switching back to Netflix. When it comes down to it, Netflix actually has a way better selection. Plus GC's user interface is atrocious. And more expensive than netflix ... Oh, and while it's great that they carry porn, their selection is pathetic. - Unsubscribed , posted 12/09/04 |

Green Cine has a better selection that even my incredibly hip local video store. There are a ton of films that I'd never be able to rent locally, and getting to keep the DVD around for more than a couple days is a huge bonus! They have a huge selection of independent, foreign, documentary, television, and even adult DVDs, all of which arrive within a couple days of you sending the last one back! Sometimes a DVD isn't available as soon as it arrives at the top of your queue, but so what? You can tell Green Cine to ship the next available one, and get it next time... Finally, their customer service is like nothing else I've ever experienced. I've always gotten awesome answers within a couple of hours of when I first contacted them, and they *always* hook me up! If you live in the SF area, there is no better way to rent DVDs than GreenCine. Great selection of mainstream as well as eclectic, foreign, queer, and independent films. The big advantage over NetF***s is the personalized service. If you have a question or problem, you can easily get a response from a real person. screw Netflix, why don't you, when you can support a locally-based nationwide DVD mailorder service like Green Cine. they are truly independent and have great taste in independent cinema (especially asian animation) while also carrying all the mainstream fluff that sometimes is the only thing one has the energy to watch. no late fees, one easy bill per month. their local movie trivia nights at the MakeOut Room are hoots, i tell you. - windy , posted 10/19/04 |
