Festival Promoters - The Good Ones Are Honest & Respct You!
Before I trash another lying, thieving, unscrupulous promoter, (Isleton, CA Chamber of Commerce, see next listing or review) I thought I would give some strokes to a few highly regarded & very professional promoters who do manage, under very difficult circumstances, to pull off medium to large scale events and treat vendors, performers and the public, fairly and with respect. Promoters like these need to be supported and none of them come from BIG orgs! And most, check in with vendors rather often during the event. Something I learned from my parents who were promoters/producers of a dozen antique shows a year comprising 40 - 75 vending antique dealers. I've over 150 of my own shows from which to rest my biases.

Tom Campbell of the Guacamole Fund! Google them! He & they are awesome!

Bob Barsotti of Black Oak Ranch, Laytonville (Kate Wolf Festival & EarthDance)

Rick Ahern of Cumulus Presents out of Sebastopol

Catherine Miller & Vic from San Diego, Zydeco By The Bay

and last, but certainly not least, the man who brought us Summer Of Love 30 & 40 and the Chet Helms celebrations, all in Golden Gate Park, Boots Hughston of Family Dog and Maritime Hall.

And please understand every one of these promoters has a cast of characters who act as paid and unpaid staff to make these events the successes they are. I thank them for their professionalism and dedication and hope you do too by attending their events and supporting their vendors. - Phoenix , posted 07/16/08
