GGP is in my heart forever
There is so much variety from one end of this huge park to the other. Tons of activities, strange creatures (like those turkey-faced geese or whatever they are), different scenery (my latest favorite is the Arboretum), and a great place to picnic and hang out with friends. - Mei , posted 09/08/05

So much to do...
I like the Japanese Gardens, the windmill, the buffalo, the rose gardens, the pond, and all the greenery! - Hope , posted 07/20/05

Love it!
Great place to go on walks, and have a bbq. Definitely nice to go to get away from it all. - l , posted 10/18/04

Archery in the park
Is anyone aware that you can do archery in the park? I just discovered it near the batting cages, golf course area on your way back from Ocean Beach and it was a blast. There is a man there on Sundays that will actually rent you all the equipment you need. He has it laying out on the side. Very friendly and will actually help you. I never shot an arrow in my life and by the end of the day I was pretty good at it and had a good time. Always something to do in GG Park. P.S. The new parking structure is hideous and much too tall. - Jim , posted 10/18/04

golden tainted but still there
Support the park--still prohibits cars on Sundays, and still the best and only place to find solace and noise--
learn how to roller blade! - susan , posted 10/16/04

Golden Gate Park - Largest City Park in US
GG Park is a local treasure... Rollerblade along JFK Blvd on Sundays, rent a rowboat and Stowe Lake, relive the Summer of Love on Hippie Hill or ride on the nearby carousel.... Or cruise the paths by the windmills if that's more your scene. - Brent , posted 10/18/04

Relaxation for the Masses
When GGPark was designed, it was meant to be a change of pace from our grids of streets; meandering paths, lakes and rolling hills. Stowe Lake is a good place to start and offers a lot even peddle & row boats. There is a Chinese [?] pavillion, lots of trails and if you hike all the way up to the path at the top of Strawberry Hill [that mass of land in the middle of the lake], you can experience a near 360 view. Also, there is a forgotten pond bed with rock formations around it that appears to be used as an alter; I've often seen candles and flowers left behind.
Watch out for the paths next to the neglected Windmill; you might get more than you're looking for if you know what I mean...... - Rebecca , posted 10/13/04

...explore more
Golden Gate park is usually frequented by weekend yahoos looking for a little goofy roller time or perhaps a picnic with the little ones. I'm telling you there is much more. Try the gardens of New Zealand or the wee Golf course or simple gaze at the Buffalo in their majesty. Yep, theres more in that place than you thought you knew. - B shots , posted 10/12/04
