I've become a faithful fan of Olive who understands my needs, takes her time and does an excellent job. She is a genuinely nice person who is easy to talk to. They have always have some new art show every time I go-most of it good. The overall vibe is laid-back fun and not too-cool-for-school or pouty sourfaces. I have lots of thick crazy dreadlocks and no one has touched my hair in 12 years! Jen took the time to consult with me about what I wanted. She really took her time and was very careful. She put in 4 different colors! She kept an eye on each color like cookies in the oven, making sure they didn't burn. Then she rinsed them all out individually with great care. She really knows hair.  I don't know if I just had a lame experience, but I've heard other people saying that lately the quality has gone down and the prices up. Having heard so many great things about Glamarama, I went on a whim to get my hair highlighted and cut to prepare for my trip to New York. I was assigned to Christian, because his client no-showed. I told them I wanted a really edgy, fashionable cut because I need to catch up to NYC standards. So we did two types of highlights. Now, apparently my hair "strips" really well even though it's dark, so it came out blaring white platinum blond. To fix the color, he had to put on a toner -- TWICE -- because it didn't work the first time. I ended up sitting there for FIVE HOURS (no exaggeration) and in the end, my hair was fried. Plus, I paid $190 for highlights and a cut. I wouldn't exactly call that cheap. I definitely recommend asking for prices ahead of time which I (stupidly) forgot. Then, to top it off, when I finally left at 6:30PM, my car was towed!!! Whatever you do, don't park across the street from Glamarama between 4-6pm. I had gone in at 1:30, so I didn't even expect to be there until 4, let alone 6:30... On a more positive note, I am happy with my haircut, although it isn't quite what I asked for. Deena, was wonderful! She took her time with my curls in order to learn how they flowed, was nice to talk to and seemed very knowledgeable about her trade. She even offered to give me a checkup it I didn't like my haircut because I had such a drastic change in hair style. I went from just past my shoulders to less then 3". I'm particularly nervous about getting my hair cut - blah blah blah. Glamarama was the only place where everyone gave an amazing rating. I decided to dive in....and was so happy that I did. I have crazy curly hair and a Ms. Olive at Glamarama made me feel so comfortable and was so kind and cool. No pressure at all from her and I left the dramy pink place NOT FEELING RIPPED OFF. I love the cuts I get from Cristina, she is an awesome stylist and a great person. I don't even tell her how I want my hair cut.....I trust her opinion more than mine on that:) I always turns out great. Best Hair Cut Ever!!!! I never thought I could pull off short hair, my hair is just so big and floofy I thought I'd look like a Pumpkin... But Santa pulled it off! If you see this, you're awesome girl! I sent like 3 or four people to Glamarama and they all came out fans... Oooh I just remembered, I need to go back in soon for a new cut... leave Glamarama disappointed or feeling used. The service and people are ALWAYs fab. Plus it's easy to get to. All the hair stylists there are creative, if you want them to be, they know style and have personality (the good kind, not the bad).
