Freight Trains in "Environmental" Marin County
For years now the Rich White Liberal Elite Marin County has pride themselves for being a environmentally friendly county. In the Bay Area they have by far the largest sections of open space and one of the first cites to be "Nuclear Free" zones.

For over 30 years now environmentally friendly Marin County had voted down measures for BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit a light rail system). Publicly worried about urban sprawl. Yet undertones of people for Richmond whose population is primary African-American and poor wondering into their neighborhoods.

Currently the commute traffic on Hwy 101and I-580 is at capacity. The California Department of Transportation is currently widening the highways. This will assure that more H2s, BMWs, and large over sized SUV with "No Blood for Oil" or "Save the Earth" bumper stickers on them will be the roads.

You would figure that environmentally friendly Marin County would want less cars on the road. You would figure they would was mass transit. But wait... that would mean less "No Blood for Oil" or "Save the Earth" bumper stickers will be seen and the message would not get out. The resolves? Lets vote down the SMART Train (commuter Train) when neighboring counties over whelming voted for it. I mean the best place to see a "Keep Tahoe Blue" bumper sticker is on the high bumper of a large yellow Hummer. Then again who wants to hear a train whistle near multi-million dollar homes. Smog is less irritable to the ears. Makes since, Right?

Since environmentally friendly Marin County favors freeways over mass transportation The only thing left to do is have a mostly privatively funded freight train coming through. The North Coast Railroad Authority (NCRA) has announced that they will be starting freight service in Napa, Sonoma and environmentally friendly Marin Counties. This will greatly reduce the truck traffic along the Hwy 101 corridor. With a history of YES for roads and highways and NO for mass transportation environmentally friendly Marin County is sueing the NCRA. Why??? Environmental Impact!

Common Marin County. Trains = More Cars/SUV. More cars/SUV means more "Save the {what every}" and "No to War and Bush" sticker on the road. Get Real please. Lets have rail.

please don't cross post
I'm making a heartfelt plea -- please don't cross-post all of these "reviews". I might be more interested if this appeared in a group on trains, or Marin, or mass transit, but in the polyamourous triads group? C'mon... - Raymundo , posted 03/27/08
