great bike shop - parts place
If you're not familiar with Faber's Cyclery - it's a great find. I bot a nice Huffy Cherokee with Shimano components for $25 for Burning Man. It needed tubes, brake pads and a better seat - all provided and put on included. They have parts of all kinds of bike parts - you hunt for something to start with. They have some new and can order. Alex runs the shop - it's crowded on Saturdays -only "open" day, but they usually have bike swaps on Sundays (go in back alley entrance). You can also call him to set a time to meet during the week - Shop:408-294-1314 or cell:408-802-3927 or alex@bikexpert.com It's on 1st Street in San Jose very near 280 exit (from downtown, Market turns into 1st st - he's on left just after 280 overpass).
He'll even buy back my bike after Burning Man - $15 or so.
He's a great guy and while he's provided bikes to people going to Burning Man, he's never gone but interested... - Di licious , posted 07/31/05
