since i can't remove this posting...
i'll modify it...in an effort to only leave a positive footprint
on the world at large from now on, and feeling like
my original review was more negative than i meant it to be-
4 stars for Edo's sensitivity to innovative hair design, and
a beautiful shop/gallery - my experience aside, which was ok, a little
disappointing a long time ago (4 years) because of the stylist
probably just having a tricky day - so, on reflection, because
I have seen the work that comes out of this salon and it is
consistently gorgeous (maybe not possible for everyone's hair
type - or you need the strongest anti-frizz agent out there) - but
still gorgeous, so I don't want to review an entire salon based on
one stylist's bad day. We all have bad days, and even tho the
second cut she gave me was shorter than I wanted, it did grow
out really well and gave me a lot to work with in texture. - Unsubscribed , posted 04/01/08

Love Edo
I just love Edo. I always left with amazing hairstyle and was entertained with wine, great music and great spirits.
I usually cut hair with Sean Rae, but everyone is full of creative energy. - biba , posted 01/02/06

quality without pretense
loved the salon, very down to earth. i felt comfortable the first time in knowing that most of the stylist have been trained by bumble & bumble.

not for eveyone, but if your funky you'll love it.
the creativity is bar none. - angelica , posted 12/06/05

Not Recommended
After reading the reviews here on tribe, I decided to get a trim at Edo the day before an important interview. Huge mistake.
The stylist (Chri) was very nice, but I left with a haircut that was worse than if I'd cut it myself. I asked for a trim (to clean up the split ends) of my long mostly all-one-length hair and I left with BANGS (I had not asked for bangs) and most of my length was gone (my hair is now shoulder length).
The cut took 1 1/2 hours and I was horrified when it was finally over. It was like I was her first client ever and she seemed suprised herself that my hair looked so bad.
Somehow (through the magic of razoring) my hair looked even more dry and unhealthy. The ends are frazzled and won't lie down and the bangs are poufy and one side of my head is a mess of kinky layers.
All this for $70.

sadness
after hearing about so many raves here on tribe, i was very disappointed with my haircut.

first of all the hairstylist pushed me back 2 hours, so i wandered around the neighboorhood for 2 hours since i have no where else to go. (luckily i didn't have any meetings that day!) then, she didn't really know how to style my hair. she pulled out a mag bought from japantown to reference. she also under-estimated how much hair i have and took one hour and half to cut it. (her next appointment was already waiting for half an hour) she didn't layer my hair enough so my hair puffs up and i looked like an asian version of oprah winfrey (well, back in her 90s days). :( she cut the top of my hair freakishly short, so they stood up for 3 weeks regardless how much styling product, which i bought at her recommendation, i had used. the front of my hair was uneven and sticks out whenever i tuck them behind my ear. not to mention when i asked over the phone how much my hair cut was going to cost i was told 50 since i had shoulder-length hair. but when i proceeded to pay at the store, they billed me for 60.

now i still kick myself till this day i let the receptionist bullied me into paying 60. ack! never will go back again. i felt completely ripped off and cheated. - cindy@staged4more , posted 03/15/05

Josh is a super groovy stylist!
I've seen several stylists at Edo, each with varying success. I have long, thick hair, and it's a chore to blow-dry it. Not only does he give me a great haircut, but he is really good with the blowdryer. I don't even need a flat iron once he's done his thing. I just wish he could teach some of the other folks at Edo how to work with thick/wavy hair...

Yes, Edo is awesome!
Great cuts, coloring, hi lites, extensions...they do it all....plus there's always an exhibit of paintings or sculpture..some kind of art. Santé is the best!!!! Highly recommended! - terry , posted 10/21/04

Finally, hair cuts without tears
I'm one of those people who goes from one hairdresser to the next and is never satisfied. Until I found Sante at Edo. I'm not going to rave about the place or the atmosphere ... I am often kept waiting for my appointment, and it doesn't seem to matter if I'm the first one scheduled or later in the day. But I am always so, so happy with my hair when I leave. Sante cuts my hair dry, which I think is the key piece here. She can actually see how my hair is going to look while she's working on it. I've had too may people cut my hair and then dry it, and then cut it again. I've taken in photos and she's able to explain how it will or won't work with my face and my hair texture. The price is right and the look is great. - Mimi , posted 10/15/04
