Bait and Switch!
I was in the 4th street San Francisco store this morning and they actually tried to scam me! I couldn't believe it! They put two tags on a bolt with two different prices and removed one when I went to buy the fabric. If you buy fabric at that store, be sure you know how to do math.
They had some really nice faux fur that less then three yards left on clearance and marked down to $10.98. There were two tags on the bolt, one for the original price with a markdown to $15 and a second one with the final clearance price $10.98. I thought it was really low, so I checked about three times, and sent a text message to my husband because I was going to get it for a project I was making for him. I am sure it said $10.98. They even had a bolt of the same fabric in purple also marked down to $10.98. There were less than three yards left, so I said I would take the whole thing and they did not verify the price with me, UNLIKE EVERY OTHER FABRIC STORE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE!!!! When they rang me up it was for $45, which seemed high, so I checked and they had charged me $15 a yard. I told them that it was marked down to $10, and to look at the bolt again, but they had already taken the bolt back. They brought it back but it was MISSING the other price tag and they insisted that it never had it. If you go to this store and think you are getting a bargain, hold on to the roll. I don't usually make a fuss but this was an obvious scam. It took them a long time to refund my credit card because they had to call a manager, who wanted to just give it to me for the original price, especially after I showed her the bolt of purple, but they said "the owner wouldn't agree to it" and then they told me that they "Had a crazy employee who was changing the price tags" and told me that the purple fabric should have been $15 and removed that tag in front of me. I have never had this happen at a fabric store or anywhere else before. It was clearly a scam where they were counting on people to either not check the math or be too embarrassed to speak up or they would not have bolts sitting around with multiple tags. I would rather pay full price at an honest store than get a "bargain" at this shady place.
