if you think this is good bbq you need to get out a little more. this stuff is below average. - Carrelli , posted 07/25/07 |

Officially it's no longer Brother-in-laws. Since around May 2006. I've tried to go back a few times, but the quality isn't the same. - Maja , posted 10/03/06 |

the ambiance so-so-- don't know about the flies-- it's been awhile since I've been there. But the food was good-- the white bread with every order is a little odd. The sweet potato pie is to die for! - Jones

...and unsanitary. Did you see flies? I saw rats! Someone told me to go because it's "an institution" and if you want ribs, they do it "aight". Give me a break. One of the other reviewers is correct. I've had better ribs fromt the supermarket. I guess everything tastes better when you're drunk. - Unsubscribed , posted 04/28/06 |

I don't get the hype and praise heaped on this place. Everytime I go ribs are ok but i've had better from a supermarket, and the sides are better left to the side. Especially the spaghetti. - Patrice , posted 04/15/06 |

i've gone there twice. The second (and final) time, there were so many flies in the kitchen area that i couldnt bring myself to order food. I've seen other places do cheap-and-dirty in a much cleaner way - Beeps Burgers on Ocean ave, for instance. If the ribs were exceptional, i could almost excuse them. But they're not. - ferocious , posted 03/29/06 |

it's no Memphis Minnie's I'll tell you that much. Non-Texans and Non-Southerners may not know better but try um both back to back and there'll be no doubt. - MilknCheese , posted 03/13/06 |

This place looks like a dump, and it is, but the food is unbelievable! Their BBQ sauce is delicious and their brisquets are to die for...talking about it makes me want to eat it this week! - Hans , posted 03/13/06 |

no frills, no sake. just give me some short ribs and shut the Hell up yuppy! - Thought , posted 08/02/05 |

I love the ribs and the greens. Even the potatoe salad tastes like mom made it. The cornbread is fabulous. The downer is the price. Almost $20 for 2 people and the portions are not big. The sides are rather small too. - Tate , posted 10/05/04 |

Brother in Law's has a great home-cooked wood-in-shopping-cart gritty feel to it, and friendly service. The food is pretty average, however. The meat itself is good, but the sauce is only ok, and the sides are unspectacular. Still, it satisfies the bbq craving. - lx , posted 09/28/04 |

my father, who used to live in SF way back, always insists on getting an order of shortends here whenever he is in town. I always agree! - Tom , posted 09/28/04 |

How can you argue when it comes with wonder bread and good baked beans? - kris , posted 09/28/04 |

Brother-In-Law's is good barbecue, but not exceptional. It's got a pretty good location, however, so I'll give them their due. I think Nate's in SoMa is far superior. - Unsubscribed , posted 09/27/04 |
