Excellent, but can we talk about the decor...?
We got there early (4pm) on a Saturday and the restaurant was closed until 5:30, so we sat at the wine bar and had a great selection of drinks. The server was gracious, attentive and very friendly.
The food was 'spensive but amazing. Local red abalone, Kumamoto oysters, black truffle ravioli....very food-ie.
The only low point was the interior. It was comfy enough, but...I assume that, it being Carmel, they were trying to impress tourists (like us) with the Tuscan yellow paintjob and some ultra-cheesy "rustic" artwork hanging on the walls. It gave the place an ironic vibe that belied the great food, winelist, and wonderful service.
But we're going back.
