Bagg is the one club where I can rationalize that latest strappy platform sandal fetish, and dance away to electro. Yes, a club that actually plays electro. I was a go-go dancer at BaGG when I was 18 (for 2 years), and now, 12 years later, I've been a go-go dancer for another year, and very recently the hostess as well. BaGG is the kind of place that you always can come home to, because it's got such a great sense of community. If you put in the effort to talk to people, they will put in the effort to make sure you feel welcomed. It's something I've done as a patron twice, and as an employee as well. Whether you're going to dance or to play, there's always smiling faces (or crunchy pleasurable pained expressions) there for you. And good lord does BaGG bring out the beautiful babes! Any given night women outnumber the men at least 2 to 1, and I love me some men, but bring on the gorgeous gals! Not sure what Sonya was talking about but there is some serious play happening at BAGG. Just this week we had numerous suspensions, floggings, impact play, birthday spanking, violet wand play, a bootblack, and even some super hot wax play. There is always at least one more than qualified DM and usually there are three or four around. I've never seen an issue with someone engaged in BDSM play who has had too much to drink, simply because we wouldn't allow it to happen. In some instances BAGG is a wonderful welcome to the larger SF kink community in others it's just another venue for us more serious lifestylers to play and learn from each other. My primary partner has issues with going to PE or the Citadel because she doesn't consider her play "serious" enough to warrant playing at the club. I have on a few occasions seen some people guilty of the stand and model kind of S&M, but most times those players are turned into better more experienced scene players as they spend more time around those with more experience and time in the scene. As far as the club, the themes rock, the music is always killer... thanks Shatter, and George is king. Only at Bagg will you find a hot dog bar, a chocolate bar, or even a spamwich bar, depending on the theme of the week. Also, there always seems to be a birthday, and it wouldn't be BAGG without birthday cake. Indoor smoking room for those who smoke, handful of like minded vendors with their wares, a bootblack, good stiff drinks, and a massage therapist to boot. A place where S&M expands to mean "Stand & Model", you can pay for typically overpriced drinks (which is always such a great combination with rope and whips, don't you think?), and listen/dance to music available at any generic goth/industrial club. First acquainted with BaGG at the old Troc. Got my first public taste of the "life" there, too. This club is home to me. Longtime friends are made, drinks are the bomb, bartenders are great, DJ's are the best in the world. Anyone coming to San Francisco should try this place. That's right, having moved outside of SF I still drive into the city on Wednesday nights to go to BaGG. Why do I do this when gas is at a premium you ask? Knowing the old loc of BaGG I must say this place has a well blended atmosphere with much more room. The decor is tastefully done with draped booths for seating with windows to view the dancefloor below through metal beaded curtains ( I like). The play area is up front near the bar, which really grabs peoples attention when they first enter. The dancefloor has pleanty of room with several platforms to dance on and a cage or two. Multiple stairwells for the voyers who like to cruise can make a happy loops around the club. Bondage A Go-Go is one of the top clubs in the city to hang out. The people there are awesome. You never get that feeling that you do not belong. You can always ask people if you want to learn or meet someone. The DJ's are freaking awesome as well. And your host is a pretty cool cat himself. That's the beauty of it. Since it's on a weeknight, it's tuff to make it too often. You never know what kinda night it might be. Could be good to meet people. Not a "Singles scene." More like an Exhibitionists & voyers meets Goth scene and everybody's real. I want BaGG to profit & all but I always like the elbow room 4 dancin' & i ain't afraid of "Dancin' with myself... oh oh oh oh....) Doesn't matter if you tell a friend cuz most can't or won't go anyway ;-). I don't think we are in danger of being invaded by Macy's shoppers. If you are a Macy's shopper I'm not even jealous anymore. Eventho I have been there once before, when i was a kid and twice before that when I was a really old man in a past life and Macy's was brand new.... As far as old V. new I think the space is ultimately superior to both Glaskat and DNA & if you really wanna talk old-school Vs. Now-school, then my opinion is musically it's as good as ever with that much more music to cull from for the D.J.'s & they hardly ever scare me away with house music. When I have to miss BaGG, my Wednesday nights are long and boring. I sit on those lonely Wednesday nights thinking of all the fun I am missing. I miss the decent drinks at the Glas Kat (tip the bartenders well and you always get decent drinks). I miss the cool DJ's that always seem to spin something I can dance to. I miss the friends who are freaks and pervs, so I feel right at home. More that I miss? Women arranging themselves in the bathroom, trannies, latex, all those beautiful people, George, the go-go dancers, the contests, boots, scenes upstairs involving clothespins and subby boys or my slave girl and leather restraints and there is much more. Yes, around the globe there are other dance/fetish clubs. I admit to thinking quite highly of one in L.A. and go everytime I'm down there. But I don't live near L.A. anymore. I live in Oakland. So why would I travel 300 miles when I can have an absolutely great time at BaGG? The decor and atmosphere is perfect for public liasons of the kinky variety, as well as spacious for groovin' and, dare I say, perfect for go-go dancing? The venue is well used by the promoters. Nooks and crannies are filled with playspaces, massuers en masse, bars, a indoor smoking lounge (Wee hee!), and a stage they actually utilise with local talent (clothed, semi-clothed and otherwise :) ). And of course the people are vivacious, in that lust-for-life kinda way. With that kind of energy I've not been intimidated about returning. You can feel everyone having a good time, hear strangers having a heart to heart in the the loo, dancers bumping elbows and actually saying 'sorry'...it's slick like a sweet peach. have a few things on my mind regarding Bondage-A-Go-Go(BAGG), and I think you should know what they are. First off, I've been going there regularly for years now, as well as frequenting quite a few other SF nightspots, so I feel that I'm pretty well-qualified to speak on the subject of the quality of nightclubs/music/dancing in SF. (ok, i feel like that sounds kinda snobby or some other lame-ass thing...sorry, i don't mean it to be). Lemme also say, that BAGG is a great club, and lots of us have lots of fun there every week....we really don't need you there. We'll keep right on havin fun whether anyone else comes or not. BUT....we WANT you there. I think you'll wanna be there, too...or even be back there, if yer someone who used to go but stopped for whatever reason. You'll wanna be there, that is, if yer someone who loves dancing to really good music, in a cool space, with a darkly fun atmosphere, and bunches of rad people (including many very foxy ladies). If, on the other hand, yer not someone who likes all that....then go somewhere else. Go somewhere that plays house music. Or techno, or drum-n-bass, or some other ungodly abomination of noise. 'Cos the DJ's at BAGG spin good shit....a broad spectrum of highly danceable, real music that completely doesn't suck. OK, maybe a song here or there might suck...but nobody's perfect...haha. The mix of stuff they play stretches from 80's-New Wave & Post-Punk, thru to plenty of solid Industrial tunes, all the way up to the current Dance-Punk/New-New Wave sound that's been going strong the last couple of years, and the newly-emerging Goth-Punk movement (She Wants Revenge, anyone?) . In other words, great music that rocks. Lately, it hasn't been too crowded either, so now's a good time to get yer foot in the door, so to speak and see what it's like while there's still enough room to really dance. I'd suggest not waiting too long though, 'cos that situation will change soon, I'm sure. If you've been at Death Guild lately, or Pop Roxx, or Popscene, or '84 or wherever....and you've found yerself thinkin, "Damn, it's too fuckin' crowded in here! I attended a number of times in their early years. Play was extremely difficult in that environment, assuming you could get into the roped off area to play. That seemed to require knowing someone. Also, many people present without basic scene ettiquette clues. just like a really good lover, BaGG has proved itself over and over and....(whew!)....over, again! it's longevity, it's "staying-power", it's willingness to try new things, it's expertise within the areas it knows, are all things we hope to find in a really good lover....besides all that, the music is (and has been) grade A prime! Don't know about the past, but after going 3 times in less then 2 weeks, I am hooked! Feels like home. The crowd is friendly, the drinks are good, the music is steady, the dancers are eye-candy and the play space is sweet. My favorite S.F. Club for years, BAGG is a one-stop shop for Kink, Drink and Sync that you should experience at least once in your life (if not once in your week;). The Barstaff is fast and friendly, the DM Tops, the DJs Rawk and the crowd is always an interesting eclectic mix that makes this party a unique weekly experience.
