Someone out there must love SaltyWalt, because SF Weekly voted the band here: www.sfweekly.com/bestof/award.php Yeah, I'm the front man of the group, but I didn't even know that anyone was voting on "Best Sea Chantey Band" until I was greated with cheers at the local coffee house. We play local pubs, festivals, and private events. We don't usually do the "pirate thing" unless the pay is good, preferring to take our subject seriously (if not ourselves). In our defense (before you think me too self serving) let me say that we are the hardest working guys in traditional music. We play to completely random crowds at Edinburgh Castle (Punk one night, Lit scene another, Drunks on a bar crawl the next) and sometimes even an empty house. Yet we're there- Putting traditional music in front of the masses and always to compliments and a good reception.
