Excellent East Bay Martial Arts in Berkeley
I've seen many different styles of martial arts, and have been consistently most impressed with Kuk Sool Won. While it may be one of the most complex martial arts systems to learn, it is also one of the most complete. This program is enormously popular for children, who benefit from improved coordination, self-confidence, and clarity of mind in all areas of their life (including academics).

Kuk Sool Won has roots in the oldest martial arts in Korea with sado mu sool, which means "family" or "tribal martial arts." Legend tells of Dan Koon Wang Kum, the first ruler of the lands later named Korea, who brought the many scattered tribes into one kingdom called Ko Chosun (Old Korea) in 2330 B.C. Buddhist martial arts and Royal martial arts provide this comprehensive martial art into what it has become today. Kicking, punching, falling, joint locking, and weapons are all part of the curriculum. - Cynthia , posted 12/20/05
