i second all of the previous reviews wholeheartedly. Gary has made me wish that my 20 year old volvo wlll last forever because if i ever buy another car i'm not sure it would be a volvo and then who would i take my car to?? i trust him implicity and maybe with his help my car WILL last forever, or at least as long as possible. i always know when he works on it that the work is necessary and more than reasonable. he is a prince among mechanics. - jane , posted 04/28/07 |

Gary, owner of Auto 280, in one of the true gems of SF. He is honest, fair, quick and knows volvos. His shop is one of the most reliable businesses I have found in San Francisco. Gary, the owner of Auto 280, is the smartest auto mechanic you'll ever meet. Several times, for us and for friends, he's figured out problems that have totally stumped other mechanics. He'll fix your car right the first time, on schedule, for a reasonable price. He's fair and honest, and he runs an top-notch shop. I've had my 1991 Volvo 940 Wagon serviced by Gary at Auto 280 for the past 7 years. He's honest, trustworthy, and only does work on the car that's necessary, and doesn't do work on the car that isn't necessary. Gary, the proprietor of Auto 280, is the Yoda of Volvos. He has been servicing Volvos since before you were born. He operates exclusively on the basis of word of mouth, without advertising anywhere. He actually turns away business regularly because he is so busy. The labor prices are rock-bottom. His reputation for honesty and skill are unmatched.
