Artemis proves to me that anything is possible. Artemis sends chills up my spine. I can’t help myself! Yummy! There is so much life to her music and her voice. A synthesis of vocal seduction and compositional excellence. Her music makes me happy and warm. Music for dreaming, loving, thinking - always stroking the gentle hairs of my ear with such elegant romance. Can you tell I’m hooked? I have to add my praise to the growing list of compliments for Artemis' music. Listening to a performance, and even just listening to a CD, still results in goosebumps. That's a reaction to the pure emotion put into the songs. Stellar! Do yourself a favor and check out Artemis the next time she's performing. She's got an absolutely captivating voice, and the musicians she performs with are quite spectacular as well. Her music runs the range from lush and ethereal, to earthy and groovacious, all of it beautifully perfomed - a splendid time is guaranteed for all, as the old song says. ...and I also do a lot of Fripp/Eno kind of stuff with my guitar. I will be the first to admit I am really fussy about the electronic based music I am willing to listen to. Techno/electronic music is one of those things that is pretty easy to do but extremely difficult to do well. So many local electronic music artists fail miserably when it comes to making music that's worth listening to. It either sounds way overblown or it sounds amatureish and almost toy like. This is not the case with Artemis. Artemis' work reminds me less of acts like Dido or Poe (who I can't stand) and more like Goldfrapp, Portishead or early Bjork (which I like a lot). She has managed to achieve a balance of taste and musicality that few unsigned electronic artists are capable of. I am a skeptical guy by nature and not easily impressed, especially when it comes to styles of music that are not my first love. I have to say I am impressed by Artemis' latest recorded efforts.
