YES YES YES! Finally, decent pizza in SF
You have no idea how long I searched for this place. It's incredibly difficult to find thin, crispy, chewy pizza with stringy mozz cheese and a nice sauce. If you typically have no problem finding good pizza in SF, you probably will not like this place. You're used to thick doughy crusts topped with thick layer of jack cheese and toppings like arugula. This place is for all the east coast transplants that have been praying for a place like this.

One tip though, their oven is very hot. When they reheat the pizza, the dough can be cracker crisp on the bottom (which some people like). I prefer to order a pie and ask them to undercook it a little bit. - James , posted 11/07/06

fantastic east coast pizza
my only gripe about life in california is the lack of good thin crust pizza. californians always think they have great pizza here. well, i cannot complain as long as i can roll down to arinell's for a couple of slices. oh yeah, don't go around noontime unless you like being on a field trip with kids from berkeley high. - zain , posted 10/08/05

No frills good NYC pizza
Arinell's makes the best NYC pizza I've tasted in the Bay Area. Not a mountain of toppings on a thick crust like Bay Area pizza. The decor...who cares they make good pizza. A few places to sit but I'll stand and eat a slice. I'm going to venture an analogy on different pizza quality. Pizzas are to New York what burritos are to California. - Dave , posted 06/12/05

Good NY style on the West Coast, but not the best...
First off, let me declare my love for NY pizza, it is my absolute FAVORITE food (other than my Mom's eggplant parmigiana). When I first moved up to NorCal with my family, we were on a mission to find all of the best NY style pizza that the area had to offer. Arinell's was one of the places we tried, and although it is very good and truly NY style, our rankings for the best of NY pizza on the west coast go as follows:

1. Pizza My Heart (in Santa Cruz)
2. Village Pizzeria (on Van Ness)
3. Amici's East Coast Pizza (in San Rafael)
4. Arinell's

Pizza My Heart doesn't claim to have NY style pizza, and their crust isn't quite as thin as the other places (though it's way thinner than 99% of the places in Cali), but their cheese is FANTASTIC (a must for great pizza), their sauce is very tasty, and the pesto slices are to DIE for. (I know, they don't usually do pesto in NY, but trust me on this.) Wow, this just turned into an ad for Pizza My Heart. I swear I don't work for them, I'm just a huge fan! - Timo , posted 04/18/05

Best NYC pizza in SFBA
Yup, this is the best it's gonna get people. Closest thing to a NY slice as it's gonna get. It costs a bit more than I remember it costing in NYC..by a bit.
If only they served Italian Ice in the summer time like I remember back in NY...... - Sarah , posted 04/17/05

Best NY Style I've had west of the Hudson
Stop in here for a quick slice or two. Don't bother with toppings, or do one at most. This pizza stands on its own, the way New York pizza should. I recommend eating it there and asking for it extra hot, so that thin crust has just the right snap. If you're looking for mounds of gooey cheese or exotic topics like thai shrimp, look elsewhere. - Philip , posted 02/20/05

Best Pizza outside of Hell's kitchen! (NY)
Take it from a native New Yorker this is the best New York Style outside of NYC. Ron, the owner, is originally from upper Manhattan and knows how to make authentic New York Neopolitan pizza. For the thick crust fans he makes a mean sicilian style pizza as well.

New York-style pizza
Recently re-opened after extensive remodeling of the building, Arinell's serves New York-style thin pizza by the (huge) slice. Choose your toppings and the laid-back students behind the counter will sprinkle them on a slice and toss it back in the oven for you. Gooey cheesy thin-crust goodness, and better than Blondie's or Fat Slice. - Nadia , posted 10/10/04

The New York Style Pizza You've Been Looking For
Buying a slice of pizza here is the closest I've come to real New York style pizza since leaving the east coast over twenty years ago. Don't even get it with a bunch of toppings, just order the plain cheese. It's a big slice, with just the right combination of cheesy goodness, homemade tomato sauce, and crisp crust. Don't be surprised if you need to order another right away. - Jilly , posted 10/06/04
