It's all in the marketing...
I expected more based on all the hype about Aqua. Food overpriced. Service to be expected. Ambience, eh. - Larry , posted 11/13/05

love it but take your corporate cc
i'd say some of the best food i've had in the city but i haven't been there for a couple of years - the black mussel souffle and oysters in tequila (i usually do NOT like oysters) are to die for. which you might do after you see the tab. go ahead and splurge and have the paired tasting menu. have never checked out the sister restaurant (does it exist still?) in burlingame. - hey, you! , posted 10/14/05

Overpriced
Nice food but SO SO expensive. I didnt think the quality was worth the premium. - Michelle , posted 02/03/05

Food like art
A bit stuffy, Aqua prepares food like art. And it tastes every bit as good as it looks. - Unsubscribed , posted 11/20/04

Spendy but worth it!
amazing place. deserves all the superlatives you can throw at it including "pricey!" Definitely try the two tuna shasimi appetizers they have - the "Classic" with sesame oil and the "New" with a Moroccan inspired spicing. I also think the Lobster "casserole" is awesome and the presentation is elegant and fun. (full disclosure: I am friends with some of the staff) - Sunil , posted 11/18/04

Great expensive food
One of the more widely acclaimed restaurants in SF, Aqua is a place to take your business clients and expense accounts. I wouldn't recommend coming here for any other reason. Great (though sometimes inconsistent) food in small portions with an upscale environment. Sure to impress out-of-towners, but if you really want a sample of the food here, wait for Dine About Town instead of paying full price yourself. - Mike , posted 10/18/04

Inconsistent
The food here is inconsistent and not worth the price tag. While they do offer a substantial wine list, I have had much better seafood at the Chef's sister restaruant, Tartare, at a more resonable price, with much better service. Don't waist your money on Aqua. Go to Tartare instead. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/18/04

Dining for taste and beauty
Looking for the best? Please, come to Aqua or visit it's sister restaurant down the penninsula in Burlingame, called Pisces. - Natasha , posted 10/17/04

Good Food - Outrageous Prices
Aqua has terrific food but really not worth the price you pay for it. You can do better elsewhere. - Chris , posted 09/01/04

Good, but not worth the price.
The two times I have been, the service was so-so and the food was good, but not great. For the price, I'd expect more. There are better places in town for less. - Tom , posted 08/17/04

Good seafood, Great Foie Gras
While Aqua is known for its seafood, I must admit that I go their for the pound of foie gras served over grilled pears. It is delicious. The wine list is quite good but probably overpriced unless you buy higher end wines ($150 and up). Service is excellent (especially in a city where service is known to be slack in even the best restaurants).

If you've got the money (or an expense account) and you love either seafood or foie gras--this is the place to go. - Darian , posted 08/05/04

Great Food!
Walter, Aqua is one of the best in the city if you are not price sensitive. - Valerie , posted 07/23/04
