They have the best velvet elvis I've ever seen. And you can do a karaoke version of "too drunk to fuck". In the same place! Serously, I just went there last night for the first time and had a great time. The crowd was all fun and supportive. The backing tracks on the karaoke are kinda cheezy-- no, REALLY cheezy. But it rocked nonetheless. When you hear a cute little asian woman singing "Anarchy in the UK", there is nothng better. - Audio , posted 09/18/05 |

karaoke hotspot. with the best mix of song titles and artists, good strong drinks mixed by annie and nate, and the lovely eileen as the karaoke hostess (tuesdays only.) yup tuesday and saturday nights if you're looking for good booze and good fun this is the place to go. it's on boardman, which is an alley off of bryant street between sixth and seventh. - jordan , posted 08/13/05 |

Punk Rock Karaoke, that's all that needs to be said. - Shawn , posted 02/14/05 |

Annie herself is cool, the drinks are good, it's not taken over by Marina zombies, you can hang out for a long time and not get bored. She generously hosted my wedding reception and everyone loved it! It's not spiffy or brand-new, so if that's your thing, you might go elsewhere. But it has character - and Annie. - meagan , posted 01/20/05 |

The bar may seem a bit out of the way, smack dab between plenty of bail bondsman places... but the bar staff makes you feel instantly at home. The last time I walked in for a cocktail, "Faster Pussycat Kill Kill Kill" was playing on the telly, hipster ladies were knitting in the back area, and the karaoke machine was in full swing. This is a tiny bar with lots of personality. Just don't drive home drunk since you're in the cop's nest area. Get loaded, sing your heart out and then take a cab. Hope to see you there! - Bonnie , posted 12/23/04 |

Annie's is my Cheers. Wonderful people, amazing drinks, flattering red lighting, what more can a girl (or guy) ask for? - Unsubscribed , posted 11/20/04 |

Take an unusual karaoke list, dozens of tattoos, rockabilly goths, a few piercings and excellent tippers, and you have the best bar in the city--and the coolest freaking regulars a karaoke hostess could ask for. And Annie's the owner and bartender. What could possibly be better? P.S. If you think $1 is an adequate tip for a round of lemon drops, there are some very nice bars elsewhere in the neighborhood. - Jody , posted 11/16/04 |

Drinks across the street from the Hall of Justice? Instant bail bonds around the corner? Karaoke with the monitor electric-taped to a table? Annie's Cockail Lounge!! - Steve , posted 10/18/04 |

Located right next to the Hall of Justice, land of the bail bonds, this great bar has also one of the best karaoke nights. Beer, cocktails, pool and great bartenders...what more can you ask for? - winnie , posted 10/17/04 |

Annie's is a great divey bar with a Coop Devilgirl feel to it. It's red, there are vintage punk show posters and velvet paintings on the wall. It's located in an obscure alley called Boardman Place, illuminated with the glow of bail bonds shop neon signs, directly across from the Hall of Justice - which incidentally is the location of the nearest ATM. Annie herself works the bar most nights. She's got a cool Bettie Page thing going with lots of tattoos, and she remembers her regulars. It's kind of a punk bike messenger bar. Karaoke on Tuesdays and Saturdays with fun KJs is always the threat or promise of a good time. They don't have the biggest song selection in town, but there's lots of rock, punk, metal, and of course some showtunes, because you can never escape showtunes. You can almost always sing about as much as you want, especially early on, and it's always a friendly crowd. Annie makes a tasty, strong, and cheap drink, and there's always a really weird movie muted on the TV above the bar. In summary, Annie's rocks, and I'll see you there. But remember, Sweet Child o' Mine is MY song. - Rank Bad Hat , posted 10/16/04 |

...but I had to quit since I like hangin' out there too much. It didn't feel right to get paid (and tipped) to have a good time. - Terrorbull Hussei... , posted 10/13/04 |

When I went there Annie was bartending, it was a Sunday night, not very crowded, she was showing a Godzilla movie on the TV behind the bar. Friendly, lots of nice bar-props. Did not try the pool table but bonus points for giving it its own room of honor. - Matt , posted 10/11/04 |

Black velvet paintings, rockin' tunes [even on Karaoke nights...!], pool table and good people. Always fun. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/10/04 |

Annie's is the coolest place in town, bar [ha] none. It's in an out-of-the-way place which means that you normally only get the cool kids in to play. Karaoke nights are fun as hell, but the rest of the time there's a fantastic jukebox, stiff drinks and cool people. Plus, it's the only bar I know where you can watch "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" Did I mention Annie makes the best bloody mary in the City? Go there now! - Spacemonkey , posted 10/08/04 |

that's all I can think of- a word that doesn't even make sense- when I try to describe this place. It is the coolest bar in the city, with friendly faces behind the bar there to greet you, everytime. Check it out... or be lame. - ColonelTCB , posted 10/06/04 |

I have written accolade after accolade for annie and her wonderful bar. But for those with a short attention span, great bartenders, great jukebox, great drinks, great karaoke on Tuesday and Saturday, great russ meyers/Bettie Page videos playing non stop, best pool room... did I mention the fantastic bartenders? It can be on the quiet side because it is far removed from any walking pub crawl, so I make it a destination most of the times. Annie's deserves your patronage... and she's a lot of fun to drink with. go go go! - - Eileen , posted 07/29/05 |
