Better for Hip Hop, Soul, and R&B
The buyers there are really great, and very up on getting the latest records. I think the Berkeley store has a better selection than the SF store, even though it's smaller. - T.D. Camp , posted 06/03/05

Great selection. Fair prices
Amoeba Music in Berkeley is my go-to record store. They have a fantastic jazz section, and I'm even able to find my favorite gypsy music CDs there. - FirstName , posted 04/25/05

Pricey but usually worth it
Despite their massive selection, I tend to not find the esoteric stuff I'm looking for, and the prices are often high, but those are the only knocks on one of the best record chains out there. - Jesse , posted 10/15/04

How can you not love Amoeba?
Not only do they have the world's best selection of new and used music, but the people at the buying counter are VERY friendly and give you top dollar for your used cuts. They know what they are doing and will give you fair price for your goods. Just a great experience everytime. - George , posted 10/15/04

Hard time leaving empty handed
Amoeba is painful to me. I can walk around the store for a half an hour, and have $200 worth of goodies in hand. Here's the neat thing-- $200 at a chain shop will get you, what 8 DVDs or 12 CDs, roughly? You'll do much better than that at Amoeba, with their huge used selection and good new prices (OK, not Best Buy good, but that's tough to beat if you can find what you're looking for). The painful part is trying to figure out what to put back. - object88 , posted 10/15/04

An Excellent Recod Store
Variety, quality, quantity, fun.
They've recently scaled down their Electronic vinyl sections, too bad, or I'd go with five stars! The Amoeba in SF was always better, in that respect. However, it's still the very best shop for records, new or used, in the East Bay. The used DVD section is ecclectic and the prices are decent. They're very good about returns, and given the proximity to UC Berkeley, have a good turnover of used material to pick through. - Molly , posted 10/08/04

great for what I'm looking for
Always seems to have what I'm looking for (even when I'm not sure what I'm looking for) - Tabasco , posted 10/07/04

Great CD store
Located on Telegraph, this store has a HUGE selection of new and used CD's. Their sales staff is also quite knowledgable if a bit busy at times. The store does tend to get crowded. The street folk outside along Telegraph by themselves virtually make any trip to Amoeba entertaining. They are open until 10 most nights as well. - Todd , posted 10/07/04
